Cross Your Heart
Stellar Revival Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You pocket dialed my from LA
you sounded like you're drunk
Now thanks to you I'm wide awake
replaying what went wrong
It hurts like hell
remembering
all too well
That little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
(you'd never break my heart)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
(it ever fall apart)
I know time can heal wounds,
but you're not supposed to lie
when you
cross your heart and hope to die
cross your heart and hope to die
It seems like it was just yesterday
making plans and making love
And all our dreams fell into place
everything was looking up
But that's long gone
and I'm still here
holding on
To that little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
(you'd never break my heart)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
(it ever fall apart)
I know time can heal wounds,
but you're not supposed to lie
when you
cross your heart and hope to die
For a while I felt defeated
I can't describe that feeling
It finally went away
just when I thought I was safe
You pocket dialed my from LA
you sounded like you're drunk
Now thanks to you I'm wide awake
cause I remember that
little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
(you'd never break my heart)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
(it ever fall apart)
It's hard to let go with a ghost like that still in my head
(but harder to deny)
I miss that ringtone but it brings me back to what you said
cross your heart and hope to die
(and hope to die)
cross your heart and hope to die
(and hope to die)
I know time can heal wounds,
but you're not supposed to lie
(you're not supposed to lie)
when you

cross your heart and hope to die
cross your heart and hope to die

Overall Meaning

In Stellar Revival's song "Cross Your Heart," the singer reminisces about a past lover who betrayed him. The song begins with the singer receiving a drunk dial from his ex-girlfriend from LA, and the memories come flooding back as he replays what went wrong. He recalls their promises to never break each other's hearts in the little bunk bed at her mother's house, where they made plans and dreams for the future. He feels defeated for a while, but eventually, the pain goes away, and he tries to move on.

However, the ghost of their past relationship still haunts him, and he holds onto the memory of their promises. He misses her ringtone as it reminds him of what she said, "cross your heart and hope to die," which was supposed to be a promise of eternal love and loyalty. But in the end, the singer understands that time can heal wounds, but one should never lie when they cross their heart and hope to die.

The song's lyrics paint a vivid picture of love and its aftermath when trust is broken. The bunk bed is a metaphor for a place of safety, trust, and intimacy that the two lovers shared. The song's sad tone and repetitive chorus reflect the singer's pain and disappointment with his former lover's betrayal. The lyrics are relatable for anyone who has gone through the heartbreak of a failed relationship.

STELLAR REVIVAL (2015) – CROSS YOUR HEART (AND HOPE TO DIE) (Traducción)
You pocket dialed my from LA
Me llamaste sin querer desde Los Ángeles
you sounded like you're drunk
Sonabas borracha
Now thanks to you I'm wide awake
Ahora gracias a ti estoy completamente despierto
replaying what went wrong
Rememorando lo que fue mal
It hurts like hell
Duele una barbaridad
remembering
Recuerdo
all too well
Todo demasiado bien
That little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
Aquella pequeña litera de tu madre donde me prometiste que
(you'd never break my heart)
(Nunca me romperías el corazón)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
No pudiste haber dicho más en serio que nunca veríamos
(it ever fall apart)
(Esto jamás fracasar)
I know time can heal wounds,
Sé que el tiempo puede curar las heridas
but you're not supposed to lie
Pero se suponía que no mentías
when you
Cuando dijiste
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
It seems like it was just yesterday
Parece que fue ayer
making plans and making love
Haciendo planes y haciendo el amor
And all our dreams fell into place
Y todos nuestros sueños yendo viento en popa
everything was looking up
Todo iba mejorando
But that's long gone
Pero eso fue hace mucho tiempo atrás
and I'm still here
Y aún sigo aquí
holding on
Aguantando
To that little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
Aquella pequeña litera de tu madre donde me prometiste que
(you'd never break my heart)
(Nunca me romperías el corazón)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
No pudiste haber dicho más en serio que nunca veríamos
(it ever fall apart)
(Esto jamás fracasar)
I know time can heal wounds,
Sé que el tiempo puede curar las heridas
but you're not supposed to lie
Pero se suponía que no mentías
when you
Cuando dijiste
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
For a while I felt defeated
Durante un tiempo me sentí derrotado
I can't describe that feeling
No puedo describir ese sentimiento
It finally went away
Finalmente desapareció
just when I thought I was safe
Justo cuando creí que estaba a salvo
You pocket dialed my from LA
Me llamaste sin querer desde Los Ángeles
you sounded like you're drunk
Sonabas borracha
Now thanks to you I'm wide awake
Ahora gracias a ti estoy completamente despierto
cause I remember that
Porque recuerdo
little bunk bed at your mama's where you promised me
Aquella pequeña litera de tu madre donde me prometiste que
(you'd never break my heart)
(Nunca me romperías el corazón)
You couldn't have said more honestly we'd never see
No pudiste haber dicho más en serio que nunca veríamos
(it ever fall apart)
(Esto jamás fracasar)
It's hard to let go with a ghost like that still in my head
Es difícil dejarlo ir con un fantasma todavía en mi cabeza
(but harder to deny)
(Pero es más difícil negar que)
I miss that ringtone but it brings me back to what you said
Extraño ese tono de teléfono pero me hace recordar lo que dijiste
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
(and hope to die)
(Y si no que me muera)
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
(and hope to die)
(Y si no que me muera)
I know time can heal wounds,
Sé que el tiempo puede curar las heridas
but you're not supposed to lie
Pero se suponía que no mentías
(you're not supposed to lie)
Pero se suponía que no mentías
when you
Cuando dijiste
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"
cross your heart and hope to die
"lo juro y si no que me muera"

Wow...amazing! Hard to find good music like this anymore!!

Ivica Mecanovic

Had this song on repeat, nice song guys.

Shaun Griffith

Ballads are very difficult to write well, perhaps the most difficult of all songs. Its easy to overdo things and get bogged down in sentimentality and its ends up sounding mawkish, corny and embarrassing. I have the gretest respect for people who can do it well.

For the record, that does NOT apply to these guys. This is a GREAT ballad. Great melody and lyrics that are heartfelt and tell a strong story.

Well done guys

Sketchbook

I love having this on repeat
