Nadia
Steph Copeland Lyrics

From her four walls, no backyard
Like she does every midnight
With her killer, her killer bee buzz
High as a kite
It isn't sober oh no
It took her over
It took her down, down down
It took us on
No sign of dawn
It took her's down, down down
Now everything is mine, everything is mine
Some of us are watching from the sewer
And the tenants have all gone mad, in her tower.
I would watch my feet when I walk downtown if I were you
And I'd play your radio for Nadia underground
It isn't sober oh no
It took her over
It took her down, down down
Now everything is mine, everything is mine
It took us on
No sign of dawn
It took her's down, down down
Now everything is mine, everything is mine
Everything is mine.
Play your radio
Play your radio
Play your radio underground
Bada un-dada un-day bad-un dada
Bada un-dada un-day bad-un dada

The song "Nadia" by Steph Copeland is open to interpretation but one possible meaning is that it's about a woman named Nadia who is walking out into the boulevard every midnight high on a drug. The song speaks about how the drug has taken her down and how everything belongs to her. The lines "Some of us are watching from the sewer / And the tenants have all gone mad, in her tower" could suggest that there are people watching Nadia destroy herself and those around her. The last lines of the song "Play your radio underground" could imply that there are people out there who are trying to reach out to Nadia or trying to connect with her underground.
The song has a haunting quality to it, amplified by the repetitiveness of the lyrics and the electro-pop sound. The use of the bee buzz sound effect is a nice touch as it could be suggesting the danger associated with drugs, the feeling of being stung, and the possible consequences. The use of the "everything is mine" line could suggest a sense of ownership the drug has on Nadia, her world, and her actions.
