For her role on Neighbours, she was nominated as the "Most Popular New Female Talent" at the 46th Annual TV Week Logie Awards held in 2004, but lost to Isabel Lucas from Home And Away.
Following the path of many Neighbours stars by diversifying into music, Stephanie released an album entitled "Tightrope" in 2006. Glen Wheatley, Delta Goodrem's former manager, was recruited to manage the young starlet.
Her debut single "Mistake" was released in July of 2006 and debuted at number 4 on the ARIA chart in its first week. The debut album, Tightrope, was released two months later, and made its debut on the ARIA chart at number 4. The album was re-released with bonus songs in March 2007. The second single released from the album was the title track "Tightrope" which peaked at #16 on the ARIA chart. The 3rd single is "So Do I Say Sorry First?" which peaked at #34.
The album was released in the UK in August 2007 after the release of "Mistake" which only managed to peak at a lowly #47 in the UK singles chart. "So Do I Say Sorry First?" was then released as the second single, but only managed to chart at #258.
Whilst "Tightrope" was certified Gold in Australia, overall sales of the album were disappointing, despite promotion. Stephanie was rumoured to have been dropped from her record label.
More recently, Steph has focused more on her acting and is attempting to further her career in Los Angeles.
Steph starred on the reality series "The Steph Show" which documented her life around the recording of her debut album.

I'd Be You
Stephanie McIntosh Lyrics

It's self-inflicted pain I guess
In this room my dreams are dreamt
I can't remember where they went
In a magazine up on a rack
Is where I'd live in white and black
If I could walk these streets unseen
I'd be you
I'd be you
Confiscate my liberty
I'm not worth a damn to me
I want to have my name in lights
I want to party through the night like you
In a penthouse suite of a grand hotel
With jacuzzis, champagne and waiter bells
Camera men and limousines
If I could have one little thing
I'd be you
I'd be you
If I was you
If you were me
If I was you
I'd be happy
Cigarettes and irony
I want to be a star
Loneliness won't validate
I can't take it anymore
If I could have one little thing
I'd switch my life with yours
If I could roll the dice again
I'd change the way they fall
I'd be you
I'd be you
The lyrics of Stephanie McIntosh's song "I'd Be You" depict the feelings of envy and dissatisfaction with one's own life. The singer is longing for a different life, one that is filled with excitement and luxury, represented by the "penthouse suite" and "champagne." She feels trapped in her own sadness and loneliness, seeking validation by wanting her "name in lights" and partying all night.
The first stanza depicts the singer's reliance on coffee to numb her emptiness. She admits that her pain is self-inflicted, but is unable to remember her own dreams. The second stanza reveals her desperation and desire to swap her life with someone else's. She laments her lack of liberty and self-worth, wishing to trade her mundane existence for the glamor of someone else's life. The third stanza explores the theme of switching lives and identities, ending on a wistful note of wanting to be happy like the person she envies.
Overall, the song touches on the universal theme of longing for something different, be it a new identity or a change in circumstances. It speaks to the universal human desire for happiness, validation, and fulfillment, demonstrating that even the most glamorous of lives can still leave one feeling empty and unsatisfied.
