For her role on Neighbours, she was nominated as the "Most Popular New Female Talent" at the 46th Annual TV Week Logie Awards held in 2004, but lost to Isabel Lucas from Home And Away.
Following the path of many Neighbours stars by diversifying into music, Stephanie released an album entitled "Tightrope" in 2006. Glen Wheatley, Delta Goodrem's former manager, was recruited to manage the young starlet.
Her debut single "Mistake" was released in July of 2006 and debuted at number 4 on the ARIA chart in its first week. The debut album, Tightrope, was released two months later, and made its debut on the ARIA chart at number 4. The album was re-released with bonus songs in March 2007. The second single released from the album was the title track "Tightrope" which peaked at #16 on the ARIA chart. The 3rd single is "So Do I Say Sorry First?" which peaked at #34.
The album was released in the UK in August 2007 after the release of "Mistake" which only managed to peak at a lowly #47 in the UK singles chart. "So Do I Say Sorry First?" was then released as the second single, but only managed to chart at #258.
Whilst "Tightrope" was certified Gold in Australia, overall sales of the album were disappointing, despite promotion. Stephanie was rumoured to have been dropped from her record label.
More recently, Steph has focused more on her acting and is attempting to further her career in Los Angeles.
Steph starred on the reality series "The Steph Show" which documented her life around the recording of her debut album.

Mistake

Why do I always do it?
Thinking this might last
How could I be so stupid?
But this time
I'm not okay, no
I need to breathe again
'Cause I don't want to
I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
And I don't want to hate
But love doesn't get me through
'Cause I can't be alone again
No I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
Stone cold and hurt inside
Not what I wanted to be
I don't sleep
It's kind Of hard when you cry
Yeah that's where you left me
But this time
It's not alright, no
I need to find someone
Cause I don't want to
I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
And I don't want to hate
But love doesn't get me through
'Cause I can't be alone again
No I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
Don't want to be caught in the moment
That never comes
Is it too much to ask
That real love will find me
I won't get stung, I'll find the one but
I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
And I don't want to hate
But love doesn't get me through
'Cause I can't be alone again
No I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
And I don't want to hate
But love doesn't get me through
'Cause I can't be alone again
No I don't want to make
Another mistake like you
The lyrics of "Mistake" by Stephanie McIntosh describe the aftermath of a previous failed relationship and the desire to avoid repeating the same mistake. The singer is regretful of rushing into the relationship and feeling stupid for thinking it would last. She is struggling with the pain and hurt that the breakup caused her, feeling stone-cold and hurt inside. Despite this pain, she recognizes that she needs to find someone and move on, as she cannot bear the thought of being alone again.
The chorus of the song, "I don't want to make another mistake like you, and I don't want to hate, but love doesn't get me through" represents the singer's resolution to avoid making the same mistake again. She is conflicted as to whether love can truly help her through her struggles, or if it will only lead her down the same path of heartbreak. The lyrics also touch upon the desire for real love to find her and for her to not get stung again, expressing a hope for a happy, healthy future relationship.
Overall, "Mistake" is a poignant exploration of heartbreak and the desire to avoid repeating painful mistakes in future relationships.
