Get up, pack
All my shit and run
I pack light nothing in the way
I won't look back
I'm surer everyday
Oh I won't hesitate
And I'm surer everyday
From the wisdom that I found
I can see the light
And I finally got it right
And I
won't waste my time on the wrong delight
I'm living my life just how I want
Got no one to answer to
And I won't flaunt
I'm just kinky
Kinky
Stephanie McKay's song "Kinky" is all about living life on your own terms and being confident in your choices. The opening lyrics, "Gotta get my feet back on the one, get up pack all my shit and run," indicate a determination to take control of one's life and leave any negativity or unnecessary baggage behind. The song further emphasizes this idea with the repeated phrase "I won't look back, I'm surer everyday." This suggests that the singer of the song has a clear sense of purpose and direction, and won't be sidetracked by distractions or setbacks.
As the song progresses, we hear more about the freedom that the singer has found. They have "got [their] feet planted on the ground, from the wisdom that [they] found," which suggests a newfound stability and confidence in their life. This is further reinforced by the line "I finally got it right, and I won't waste my time on the wrong delight." This idea of finding one's true path and rejecting anything that doesn't align with it is central to the song's message. By emphasizing that they are "just kinky," the singer is asserting their right to live life on their own terms, without worrying about societal norms or expectations.
Overall, "Kinky" is an empowering song that encourages listeners to be confident in their choices and to live life on their own terms. It suggests that true happiness and fulfillment come from being true to oneself, and that it's never too late to start down a path of self-discovery and growth.
