Crossfire Part II
Stephen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

cs far back as I can remember
I cannot recall a thing
No nurture, no nature
Infinite creator, lover or rivalry

It is just these doldrums, the breakdowns
Repairs and equations
That keep me functioning
Through the margins, postpartum and dormant indulgence
Simply hammers upon the string

I feel every tremble
They just do not resonate that well within me
I drag quill through the well
cll to splatter some gospel
Tuned to pandering

Now I dream in coding and corrupted files
Drenched in a deadpan Policy
cll actions half empty stick true to the script
Devout to this rusted circuitry

But I cannot atone this automaton
On my own

Defensively perched upon the high wire
The lazy, the lackluster acrobat
But one trick up his sleeve
To deflect to deceive
Stumbling his way through the act

Some mechanical toy of your childhood
On hairpin and triggered
Desperate to perform
Dragging his feet through iron sceneries
Cradle that spoil, release and reform

Now I wake to errors and monotone skies
Loose meditations of grayscale and fire
With ego gone cWOL and absentee id
Binary graces champing at the bit

I cannot atone this automaton
On my own

Overall Meaning

In Stephen's song Crossfire Part II, these lyrics are a reference to the famous song "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd. The lyrics are quite emotional as they talk about a father leaving his child behind, and the child questioning what the father has left for him. The use of the phrase "All in all it was just a brick in the wall" could refer to the idea that the father was just a small part of the larger picture, and that his absence may not make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. However, the repetition of this phrase also brings to mind the idea of conformity and obeying authority, as in the original Pink Floyd song.

It's possible that these lyrics are drawing a comparison between the absent father and a brick in a wall; just as the brick is an essential part of the structure, it can easily be replaced by another brick without causing any significant change to the wall. This could suggest that the father's role in the child's life is easily replaceable and that his absence may not have a significant impact.

Overall, these lyrics are quite powerful in their simplicity, and by referencing a classic song, Stephen is able to evoke a lot of metaphors and themes.

Walk by ya in the path of righteousness
I walk higher, toss liars
In the pit of hell, caught in the crossfire
Caught fire, from the big guns, these is not revolvers
Violence only creates confusion, it ain't a problem solver
Let's go, my skin is my dress code
Just know, I need a personal Jesus
I’m in Depeche Mode
The best show is when the bullets hit the flesh slow
This ain't a movie, dog, you know it when your chest explodes

I’d trade my luck to know
Why he's caught in the crossfire
And now I’m here wakin' up
To the sun and the sound of birds
Society’s anxiety
Deprived of all that we’re blessed with
We just can't get enough, no

99 Problems, Sean Michael Carter
Can find ayala trying to fix my life like Evelyn Lazana
Night marauders, 12 hour cigars like godfathers
Starving artist trying to get some cut like the hardest barbers
Gun culture, what I talk is dead coming from vultures
I promise I didn’t choose to be a martyr, my enemies' focus
My heart seems to be the target if you ain't notice
These guns are still our youth, its stolen moments

I’d trade my luck to know
Why he's caught in the crossfire
And now I’m here wakin' up

Society’s anxiety
Deprived of all that we’re blessed with

This music video is actually amazing. A very good representation of the divisions within society, how they are pushed to the outskirts (or in this case in their own glass box) from the 'supposed' norm (represented by the crowd of all the same type of people). And it shows all of this being broken down from the innocence and purity of children, a reminder that we are all humans.

None

No one even understands the real representation. Look at the cop, listen to the lyrics. The cop has his hand on the gun. The girl is a muslim. The rapper is black. Its about segregation. "My skin Is my dress code." "violience only created confusion." The black lives mater riots.

Division within society being pushed to the outskirts = segregation.. (not sure if you were agreeing with me or if you were saying that what I said was wrong).

I am so impressed by this concept. (Video and song)
Crossfire (The Original) is probably one of my favorite songs, but this one is taking it on another level.
It's different, yet equally good - love it.

The punisher

This is 2020. This song is not dead. The more I listen the more I found humanity.
