Jo-Ann Greene writes about "Mind Control" AllMusic.com: "Stephen has continued to grow, adding new sounds and styles to his repertoire over the years. A conduit to the past and a bridge to the future, his music -- like his father's -- sounds timeless: reggae that embraces the world."
2004 he started the 27-city Bob Marley Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival tour with his four brothers and sons of Bob – Ziggy, Julian, Damian and Ky-Mani – each of whom have their own professional recording careers. The tour was the first time the brothers have officially performed together on stage.
Every February in Miami, Marley and his brothers perform at his family's annual Caribbean Festival in honour of their late father Bob Marley.
Could You Be Loved

Could you be loved and be loved?
Don't let them fool ya,
Or even try to school ya! Oh, no!
We've got a mind of our own,
So go to hell if what you're thinking is not right!
Love would never leave us alone,
Could you be loved and be loved?
Could you be loved, wo now! and be loved?
(The road of life is rocky and you may stumble too,
So while you point your fingers someone else is judging you)
Love your brotherman!
(Could you be could you be could you be loved?
Could you be could you be loved?
Could you be could you be could you be loved?
Could you be could you be loved?)
Don't let them change ya, oh!
Or even rearrange ya! Oh, no!
We've got a life to live.
They say: only only
Only the fittest of the fittest shall survive
Stay alive! Eh!
Could you be loved and be loved?
Could you be loved, wo now! and be loved?
(You ain't gonna miss your water until your well runs dry;
No matter how you treat him, the man will never be satisfied.)
Say something! (Could you be could you be could you be loved?
Could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! Say something!
(Could you be could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! (Could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! Say something! (Say something!)
Say something! Say something! (Could you be loved?)
Say something! Say something! Reggae, reggae!
Say something! Rockers, rockers!
Say something! Reggae, reggae!
Say something! Rockers, rockers!
Say something! (Could you be loved?)
Say something! Uh!
Say something! Come on!
Say something! (Could you be could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! (Could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! (Could you be could you be could you be loved?)
Say something! (Could you be could you be loved?)
The song "Could You Be Loved" by Stephen Marley is a call for individuality and freedom of thought. The lyrics encourage listeners to think for themselves, not let others dictate their thoughts or actions, and to love one another. The first verse admonishes against those who would attempt to control or indoctrinate others, and urges listeners to reject that influence. The second verse speaks to the importance of personal fulfillment, and emphasizes that only the strong and adaptable will thrive. The chorus repeats the question of the title, asking if the listener is capable of loving and being loved.
The third verse is more introspective, warning against taking others for granted and acknowledging that true appreciation often only comes after something or someone is lost. The final section of the song repeats the refrain to "say something" and encourages expression in the form of reggae and rock music. Throughout the song, the message remains clear: be yourself, love and respect those around you, and don't let anyone else tell you what to think or do.
