Jo-Ann Greene writes about "Mind Control" AllMusic.com: "Stephen has continued to grow, adding new sounds and styles to his repertoire over the years. A conduit to the past and a bridge to the future, his music -- like his father's -- sounds timeless: reggae that embraces the world."
2004 he started the 27-city Bob Marley Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival tour with his four brothers and sons of Bob – Ziggy, Julian, Damian and Ky-Mani – each of whom have their own professional recording careers. The tour was the first time the brothers have officially performed together on stage.
Every February in Miami, Marley and his brothers perform at his family's annual Caribbean Festival in honour of their late father Bob Marley.
Lonely Avenue
Stephen Marley Lyrics

But the sunshine never comes through
You know it's always dark and dreary
Since I broke off, baby, with you
I live on Lonely Avenue
My little girl wouldn't say 'I do'
So I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
Someone hear me, Lord
Now my covers, they feel like lead
And my pillow, it feels like stone
Well, I've tossed and turned so every night
I'm not used to being alone
I live on Lonely Avenue
My little girl wouldn't say 'I do'
And I'll cry, I'll cry, I'll cry
Yes, I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
Someone hear me, Lord
Someone hear
Someone hear me, Lord
Someone hear
Stand in love, don't fall in love
Now my room has got two windows
But the sunshine never comes through
You know it's always dark and dreary
Since I broke off, baby, with you
I live on Lonely Avenue
My little girl wouldn't say 'I do'
So I'll cry, I'll cry, I'll cry
Yes, I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
Someone hear me, Lord
I said I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
And I'll cry, I'll cry, I'll cry
Someone hear me, Lord
Someone hear
If someone gone ill
As I would say it again
Stand in love, don't fall in love
The lyrics of Stephen Marley's "Lonely Avenue" express his emotional state after breaking up with his significant other. The all-consuming darkness that descends upon his life is a result of the sun never shining in through his windows. This is the first indication that he is living in a debilitating depression that is caused by his ex-partner's departure. He tries to find solace in tears but realizes that no one can really hear him. He is so used to his partner's company that being alone feels alien to him. The pillows feel like stones, and the covers, like lead. He laments that the girl he loves won't even consider marrying him, adding to his feelings of loneliness and despair.
Throughout the song, he implores the Lord to hear him and help alleviate his pain. He repeats his intention to try and search for love until he finds it. Love is always the answer for Marley, and he reminds his listeners to stand in love and not fall into it, possibly as a cautionary note to avoid relationships that may not have substantial potential. The lyrics suggest that love is a cure that heals wounds of betrayal and abandonment.
Overall, "Lonely Avenue" is a contemplative song that takes someone on a journey through the murky depths of heartache and loneliness after a lover's exit. It highlights the singer's struggle with his separation, but still embraces the romantic notion of finding love again.
