Love U More
Steps Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Dreams into fruition
Trust your intuition
Big Big Big Dreams into fruition
Trust your intuition
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Climbing up that ladder then you suddenly fall
God ain't forget about you
Hurting
Hard times
Lost after lost
God ain't forget about you
Waiting for that next step
But you can't hardly see
God ain't forget about you
Nah
God ain't forget about you
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more
Love yourself more
Trust yourself more

Love yourself more
Trust yourself more

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Steps' song "Love U More" encourage self-love and trusting one's intuition. The repetition of "love yourself more" and "trust yourself more" emphasizes the importance of valuing oneself and one's own instincts. The lyrics suggest that by doing so, one's dreams can become reality ("dreams into fruition"). However, the song also acknowledges that there will be obstacles and struggles on the path to achieving those dreams. It references the experience of "climbing up that ladder then you suddenly fall" and feeling lost after repeated failures. But despite these hard times, the song tells the listener that "God ain't forget about you" and that they should continue to wait for the next step, even if it's hard to see.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure this was on the first Steps VHS. One of my most prided possessions when I was little. Faye's dreads are iconic, tbh. This is brilliant!

OliAliNes3723

Yes it was on the VHS tape. I remember borrowing it from the library and my sister and I watched it many times

Carys Michael

It definitely was I also had it and remember a lot of to this day

Frans Hattingh

What a delightful surprise! This is one of my favourite tracks from their début album. I didn't know it had a music video or was even considered for being released as a single. 😳

Riche Sébastien

It had never been a single and it was not a proper video until now as it was filmed as a bonus on their 1st VHS

Frans Hattingh

@Riche Sébastien , thank you for letting me know about that. I couldn't even find any promos for "Love U More", so I assumed it was either a scrapped single (perhaps in favour of moving on to the Steptacular era) or perhaps even footage that was shown on the video screens during live performances. I never had any of their VHS releases, so I was unaware that this particular video existed until now. Thank you!

@Frans Hattingh It wasn’t considered for a single release- both this song and Too Weak To Resist from the Step One album had clips made as a bonus on the video of the same name. It’s nice to see it in HD, unfortunately it doesn’t do the blue screen any favours

John-Paul Simpson

@Frans Hattingh if they release it as a single they would need to pay royalties to the writer and the group Sunscreem

Andrew Quick

Was meant to be their single after Tragedy but they didn’t want to have another cover as a single so soon

I had NO IDEA this had a music video...what a nice surprise. This band have put the effort and hard work in from Day One and it truly shows. Proud to have been a fan since 5, 6, 7, 8!!
