Heart of Gold
Stereophonics Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been a miner for a heart of gold
It's these expressions that never give
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
They keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
I've crossed the ocean for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind, its such a fine line,
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
It keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold,
Keeps me searching and I'm growing old
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
I've been a miner for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
The lyrics of "Heart of Gold" by Stereophonics convey a sense of longing and yearning for something unattainable. The singer describes himself as a miner searching for a heart of gold, which can be interpreted as a metaphor for searching for a deep emotional connection or true love. This search has taken him to places like Hollywood and Redwood, symbolizing the glamour and beauty of the world, but ultimately he is still searching for something that is elusive and intangible.
The repetition of the phrase "and I'm getting old" emphasizes the sense of urgency and the need to find what he's looking for before it's too late. The lines "I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line" illustrate the internal struggle of trying to find the balance between searching for what he wants and becoming overwhelmed and lost in his own thoughts.
Overall, "Heart of Gold" is a poignant and relatable song that speaks to the universal human desire for connection and meaning in life.
