Strange how music can act as a tap to such specific and detailed memories. When I hear this song, I remember standing at a bus stop with this in my discman waiting to go to work in a little train station bookstore I worked in. It was 2005, and I was in the midst of some relationship tumult that would ultimately result in the end of that relationship. It felt like the end of the world. I remember the cold, and the road looking slick and wet. I remember the smell of grass, moss, and wet black soil. I remember wondering what might happen next. Not six months later I was living in Tokyo, and singing this song in a karaoke booth under a few too many cups of sake. Now I think about it all again in my middle years. Moments of seeming finality and significance, that are now just little bumps in the road. Just as this moment will be in 5 or 10 or 20 years time.

17 years old, senior year of High School. My dad had lost his job during the recession and I was making $7/hr at an Old Navy helping my family out. Somehow I managed to support them, myself and a gf at the same time. I got 3 of my friends a job at my store and they helped me make those minimum wage retail days so much fun. This song reminds me of my sons as I was told how they went to watford to watch middlesbrough play atford and how they got kicked out of a hotel for fighting each other when drunk but ended sleeping in car back as friends, brothers laughing about there stupidity i was told that after my youngest son Mark passed away aged 23 in car crash i went to a pub four days after his death and stood watchign karaoke and someone sang this song i struggled not to crumple to the floor , this song is massive to me

This song was a song that I happened to listen to after my life was shattered. ...I dont know where we are going now, was the theme of my life for me and my 4 children, at that moment... wonder what happened to you, wonder if we'll meet again... so many little phrases that defined my situation. This song reminds me of my first love. Summertime drives, latenight visits, his smell, his goofy jokes. He was my first everything. He lit up my world and challenged everything I thought I knew, even things I thought I knew about myself. It was such an exciting time for me.
We were On-and-off for a number of years, until I just couldn't do it anymore. I was heart broken. I loved him.
As much as I wanted desperately for Us to work, it just didn't and it wasnt going to.. He said he thought I was the one, and for sometime I thought he was too.
My response after the breakup was to move cities. Everything reminded me of him.
Things don't work out the way we hoped and that's ok ... in the end, it will all be ok. Sometimes you just gotta hear what's going on in your head over what's going on in your heart. It's better to let go if you KNOW, you can't be the person they want or need you to be. They may not understand at the time, but in time, they will.
