Change myself
Chasing myself
Cherry&my friends
Cherry my song
The lyrics of Stereopony's song Cherry my... describe the feeling of longing for someone you used to be close with, but have now grown apart from. The song opens in a room at 4 pm, where the singer feels foreign and unfamiliar. They then head out to a familiar intersection and ride a bike down a hill, feeling inexplicably rushed with their heart pounding against the asphalt. The singer begins to contemplate why they haven't seen this person they are thinking about for the past ten days, even though they graduated from the same school and share an unchanging friendship.
As the song progresses, the singer still can't shake their loneliness and sends repeated messages to this person who seems distant and unreachable. Despite their futile attempts, they hold onto the hope of finding their best selves so that they can meet their friend once again. Ultimately, the Cherry blossom serves as a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, love, and friendship, and just as Cherry blossoms only bloom for a short while every year, some friendships fade away as well.
The song's lyrics have a bittersweet tone that encourages the listener to cherish their past friendships while also accepting the ebbs and flows that come with life. This message is complemented by the folk-rock sound of the instrumentation, which provides a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere to ponder the memories of the past.
