The Ocean
Steve Angello & Saturday Monday Feat. Julia Spada Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We drove out to the ocean
Stayed inside your car for ages
Talking through the stages

Gone are the days of sun lotion
the carefree and the unsober
It's already October
We reach the end here, crushed like the waves
We reach the end here, nothing to save

And though the ocean looks infinite
from the far side
it breaks here, it dies

Like you and I

We drove out to the ocean
Tried to think of something fateful
- like we're greatful

Air and water in motion
Hair is blocking all my vision
Reach a final decision

We reach the end here, crushed like the waves
We reach the end here, nothing to save

And though the ocean looks infinite
from the far side
it breaks here, it dies

Like you and I

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Steve Angello & Saturday Monday ft. Julia Spada's song "The Ocean" depict a couple driving out to the ocean, where they stay in the car and talk about their relationship. The couple discusses their past experiences during sunnier times, where they were carefree and reckless. However, now in October, they seem to be facing some difficult times. The couple reaches a crossroads and both realize that their relationship has come to an end. The metaphor of the ocean is used to demonstrate that while things may appear infinite from the outside, they eventually break and die, just like their relationship.

The song portrays the idea of nostalgia, particularly of a time when things were simple and uncomplicated. The lyrics suggest that people often hold onto the past and forget to focus on the present moment, leading to the end of a relationship. The metaphor of the ocean is particularly poignant as it symbolizes both the vastness and depth of the couple's affection, while also representing a final barrier between them.

"The Ocean" is a melancholic yet hopeful track that deals with the complexities of romantic relationships. It emphasizes the importance of both communication and acceptance, particularly when it comes to the ending of a relationship. The song is a beautiful representation of how love can change, evolve and eventually end, without either party feeling like they've lost.

Steve Angello is one of those producers that puts all of his heart into the songs. I loved every second of this track, just pure perfection, keep doing what you do and never change man! Big respect.

Axwell, Ingrosso and Steve. They're always doing awesome things in the EDM world (songs, videos, performances). They're just awesome, even they are together or apart.

@AwesomeChahal

+Victor Leal nah axwell ingrosso is mediocore and steve is jus killing it by themselves

@victorleal18

mediocre? Do you even know who they are? Have you ever listened Axwell or Ingrosso (before SHM) songs? I'm suspicious to say that, but all other DJ's play Axwell and Ingrosso songs, they're kind of EDM Masters.

@AwesomeChahal

@victorleal18

+ANTI PC Principal Yes! But as you like to have your opinion, don't say that the others are mediocre.
