Back to Earth
Steve Aoki Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I think that I was meant to be next to you, to you
On this planet spinning
I think that I was meant to be next to you, to you
And you know I found the dust to be resilient
And we're the dirtiest of the dirt
Every time we fall to pieces
We build something new out of the hurt
To earth, to earth, to earth, to earth
We can never come back to earth, to earth, to earth
Are you living your life or just waiting to die?
The bright, the bright, the bright
The brightest things fade the fastest
All my life, the bright, the bright, the bright
The brightest things fade out the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa
This is a crooked path
I think that I was meant to be next to you, to you
We can never come back (we can never come back)
I think that I was meant to be next to you, to you
And you know I found the dust to be resilient
And we're the dirtiest of the dirt
Every time we fall to pieces
We build something new out of the hurt
And we can never come back to earth
To earth, to earth, to earth, to earth
We can never come back to earth, to earth, to earth
Are you living your life or just waiting to die?
The bright, the bright, the bright
The brightest things fade the fastest
All my life, the bright, the bright, the bright
The brightest things fade out the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
(Fastest)
The brightest things fade the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The brightest things fade the fastest
The brightest things fade the fastest
The brightest things fade the fastest
The lyrics of Steve Aoki ft. Fall Out Boy’s song “Back to Earth” seem to focus on the idea of finding one’s place in the world and embracing the journey. The opening lines, “It was just the beginning, I think that I was meant to be next to you,” suggest an optimism and sense of destiny. The following lines, “On this planet spinning, I think that I was meant to be next to you,” reinforce this notion of mutual purpose in a chaotic world.
The chorus, “And we can never come back to earth, to earth, to earth, to earth,” offers an interesting contrast to the hopeful opening. Instead of seeing the world as a place of limitless possibilities, the lyrics imply that once the journey is started, there is no going back. This may suggest a certain urgency to the mission and a reminder that all things eventually come to an end. The line, “The brightest things fade the fastest,” is a reminder that even the most brilliant moments in life are fleeting and should be cherished.
Overall, the lyrics of “Back to Earth” are a reflection on the transience of life and the need to embrace that which makes us feel most alive. It is a reminder to seize every opportunity and make the most out of the time we are given.
