(2) Steve Lacy (July 23, 1934 – June 4, 2004), born Steven Norman Lackritz in New York City, was an American jazz saxophonist and composer recognized as one of the important players of soprano saxophone. Coming to prominence in the 1950s as a progressive dixieland musician, Lacy went on to a long and prolific career. He worked extensively in experimental jazz and to a lesser extent in free improvisation, but Lacy's music was typically melodic and tightly structured. Lacy also became a highly distinctive composer, with compositions often built out of little more than a single questioning phrase, repeated several times.
After Lacy was diagnosed with cancer in August 2003, he continued playing and teaching until weeks before his death on June 4, 2004 at the age of 69.

Baby girl, I got you, oh, oh
Baby girl, I got you (right where I wanted)
Baby girl, I got you, oh, oh, oh
First day, started hangin' out, celebratin' your birthday
Turned nineteen so we couldn't really be thirsty
For somethin' to drink, no, snugglin' 'round with pink buffsShit, I don't even thought takin' the bubbly
Lil' mama, uh, why you won't love me?
Lil' mama, uh, why you won't love? Mama
Baby girl, I got you (right where I want you)
Baby girl, I got you, oh, oh
Baby girl, I got you (right where I wanted)
Baby girl, I got you, oh
In these lyrics from Steve Lacy's song "Uuuu," he sings about being in a relationship with a girl and feeling like he has her right where he wants her. He starts by reminiscing on their first day hanging out and celebrating her 19th birthday, but notes that they couldn't really drink because of her age. They "snuggled around with pink buffs" instead, which is likely a reference to wearing pink sunglasses or goggles. Despite the lack of alcohol, he says he thought about taking the bubbly (champagne) to make the occasion more special.
The chorus repeats the line "baby girl, I got you (right where I wanted)" several times, emphasizing his feelings of control and possession in the relationship. He then asks "why won't you love me?" twice, suggesting that perhaps there is a disconnect or imbalance in their feelings for each other. The use of "mama" in the second time he asks this question adds a sense of affection and pleading, as if he is hoping she will see the love he has for her.
Overall, these lyrics paint a picture of a young love where one person feels like they have the upper hand and are trying to gain more of the other person's affection. The repeating phrase "baby girl, I got you" shows a sense of confidence and almost possessiveness, while the question "why won't you love me?" reveals a more vulnerable and uncertain side to the singer's feelings.
