Overall Meaning

As the lyrics are instrumental, there are no words to interpret. However, without the lyrics, the music itself can convey emotions and tell a story. In this case, "Song for Our Ancestors" is a tribute to those who came before us and paved the way for our lives today. The music seems to evoke a sense of reverence and gratitude, as if honoring the memories and sacrifices of those who lived before us.

Some may interpret the song as a reminder to appreciate the opportunities and privileges we have today, which were made possible by the efforts of generations before us. The gentle melody and smooth guitar riffs create a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, suggesting a meditation on our place in the grand scheme of things.

Overall, "Song for Our Ancestors" is a beautiful instrumental piece that speaks to the universal human experience of contemplating our place in history and paying homage to those who came before us.

Love this album. Most people seem to know the Jet Airliner period but this, for me, was the best Miller band.

hobonickel

Absolutely. I remember getting Sailor and Children of the Future as a special two-album package with the cover of one on the front and cover of the other on the back. I saw SMB live a couple of times but I much prefer their music prior to The Joker.

@hobonickel For me, The Quicksilver Messenger Service was a very progressive rock band.

A true psychedelic classic! One of the Steve Miller Band's greatest. Sit back and let this awesome instrumental carry you across the waves of time and space!

Yes, someone called this a classic. Right, it is. . Hard to believe that music was this good for a few years. This album, Quicksilver, American beauty. Forever changes, and a few others, it was a brief period of high creativity. Happens now and gain. Louis
