Little Wing
Stevie Ray Vaughan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running wild
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and a fairy tale
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding the wind

When I'm sad she comes to me
With a thousand smiles she gives to me free
It's alright she says...it's alright
Take anything you want from me
Anything

Fly on little wing

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Fly on little wing

She is depicted walking through the clouds, which represents her carefree and dreamlike spirit. The lines "Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and a fairy tale" also highlight her imagination as she indulges in a fantasy world of wonder and enchantment.

My old man would always have this playing in his garage while we worked on classic cars. Makes me tear up every time I hear it, miss you, Dad.

You’re a lucky man! I mean that with the utmost respect.

My Dad was a body mechanic, he passed in 2001. But; i get where you are coming from, emotion. I hear Annie Lennox's " Angel " and am in a puddle of tears. My only Sister died years ago and her daughter and I were in the room holding her hands as she went. So, I get that songs make you feel.

My fourteen year old son plays this on his guitar perfectly. Almost makes me cry every time. Proud mother here…

And you should be proud. I've played guitar from 14 until 20. I tried hard, though not hard enough, and I never reached the skills enough to play this song properly. I miss being 14, I am 29 now. My mother used to support me in everything I did as a teen, and I will never forget that. I wish the best to your son and you, sorry if I got a bit emotional.
