Loose Ends
Sticky Fingers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Ready?)

Nowhere
Yeah

Well, it's no wonder they're killing our newborns
It's a matter of fact that we die
I'll make a promise to break like the law does
Like the rest of us under the sky

This is a government's world
And so you better get a job
And no more acting like a nuisance
You got me tangled in your loose ends, ah

Big speak stamina, easy go hangover
The Molly's in the mirror, she picked me for a scavenger
Had enough, bag it up, loaded like a caliber
Simi situation, she shoot me like a camera
Murder on the seven seas I been to heaven
Took a picture, prove it wasn't a dream, I won't forget it
As the day gets old that's when I get young
I come alive with the setting sun

This is a government's world
And so you better get a job
And no more acting like a nuisance
You got me tangled in your loose ends
This is a government's world

I'm gonna rid the world of all your love
(I'm gonna cut you in, I'ma suck you dry)
I'm gonna tuck you in and out a touch and such
(I'm gonna lift up your heart up into your head)
I'm gonna give you a hand, now I'm your man
(I'm gonna give you hope from a godless soul)
I'm gonna make you a dad, then I'll take your kids
(I'm gonna fuck you up now you won't be so pretty)

This is a government's world
And so you better get a job
And no more acting like a nuisance
You got me tangled in your loose ends

This is a government's world
And so you better get a haircut

And no more acting like a nuisance, nuisance
You got me tangled in your loose ends, ah

Overall Meaning

The song "Loose Ends" by Sticky Fingers reflects on the current state of society, where the government controls and manipulates the population. The lyrics criticize the system and express a sense of hopelessness. The opening lines, "it's no wonder they're killing our newborns, it's a matter of fact that we die," suggests that death is a common occurrence in this world, and there is no hope for change.

The chorus of the song repeats the line, "This is a government's world, and so you better get a job," emphasizing the idea that one must conform to the system and work for the government to survive. The song also disapproves of people who act like nuisances and lose their way in life, leading to them being tangled in their loose ends. The theme of giving up hope and feeling lost is prominent in the lyrics.

The following verses speak of drug use, lust, violence, and the feeling of being alive only during the setting sun. The reference to taking a picture in heaven proves that the character in the song experiences moments of clarity and true joy. However, it fades away as the day progresses, and the character is left feeling despondent and hopeless once again.

Overall, the song is both a call to action and a warning. It urges individuals to take control of their lives and break free from the grip of the system, but it also acknowledges the difficulty of doing so. The lyrics offer a bleak outlook on life under a government-controlled world.

I always knew the Stickys were well capable of rocking out if they wanted. Dizza Frost's vocals are bullet proof and guitarist Seamus Coyle is world class (how many great bands have had that lead singer-lead guitarist combo at their core? The Stones, Led Zep, Sabbath, The Smiths, The Verve, The Stone Roses, U2 etc etc) and the rest of the band are rock-solid. What's more is Sticky Fingers are chameleons who have about five different styles ranging from reggae to chillwave.
I'm just waiting for them to have their "Who Can It Be Now?" moment, then things will never be the same!!

@Barretvention
