All I Know
Still Corners Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You were like the child
Somebody left the highway
Nobody knows the cause
All I know, is that I don't know
All I know, is that I don't know
It's the fire
It's desire
Fire
Desire
All I know, is that I don't know
All I know, is that I don't know
The lyrics to Still Corners' song "All I Know" are filled with intriguing, yet cryptic messages. The first line, "Summer was like the fire," immediately creates an almost tangible image of sweltering heat and unstoppable force. This is juxtaposed with the next line, "You were like the child," which could symbolize innocence or vulnerability. The third line, "Somebody left the highway," adds a sense of danger or tragedy to the imagery. The final line, "Nobody knows the cause," leaves the listener with a feeling of uncertainty and loss.
The chorus of the song, "All I know, is that I don't know," repeats twice in succession, emphasizing a sense of not understanding or being unable to comprehend what has happened. The line "Fire in the summer" is repeated multiple times, perhaps representing a reiteration of the opening line's imagery. The lyrics "It's the fire, it's desire" could also represent a connection between passion and destruction.
Overall, "All I Know" seems to be a song about the overwhelming power of nature and how humans can be caught up in its destructive force. The use of metaphors and imagery provides rich, yet ambiguous meaning and encourages interpretation from the listener.
