Going Back to Strange
Still Corners Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ten years ago I think
Wanna go before I fear
Always stop before the brink
I’m going back before I break
Going back before it’s too late
I’m going back to strange
I’m so close to the line
I can see the house from here
Got some crazy on my mind
Oh, my heart belongs here
I’m going back before I break
Going back before it’s too late
I’m going back to strange
I’m going back to strange
The lyrics of Still Corners' song "Going Back to Strange" convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for a past place and state of mind. The singer reflects on the passage of time since they were last in this particular location, possibly ten years ago. There is a desire to confront their fears and venture to this place before reaching a breaking point. The theme of hesitation is evident as they often stop just short of diving into the unknown.
The phrase "going back before I break" suggests that the singer wants to revisit this strange place from their past to reconcile unresolved emotions or experiences. They hope to recapture a sense of familiarity, belonging, and perhaps even a sense of belonging to this strange, unconventional setting. The line "I’m so close to the line, I can see the house from here" provides a visual representation of being on the cusp of making a decision and seeing the destination within reach.
Overall, the lyrics of "Going Back to Strange" evoke feelings of yearning for a time and place that holds personal significance. It reflects the universal human desire to reconcile past experiences, face fears, and embrace the unknown in order to find closure or rediscover a sense of self.
