I Stopped caring, so let me go
All that was severed could not be put back together
You will never make it better, it doesn't matter what ever you do.
Too late you're too late
I stopped trying to fight your fight
Too late you're too late
To make this right
Just say goodnight
So let it die
Too late you're too late
I will not accept any more apologies
I cannot forgive or forget the memories
You're too late
Too late you're too late
To make this right
Just say goodnight
So let it die
All that was severed could not be put back together
You will never make it better, it doesn't matter what ever you do.
You're too late.
The lyrics of Still Naive's song "Too Late" convey a sense of finality and resignation. The words paint a picture of a relationship that has already been broken beyond repair, and the singer is no longer interested in trying to fix it. The song's opening lines repeat the statement, "I stopped caring, long ago/I stopped caring, so let me go," which clearly sets the tone for the rest of the track. The singer has reached a point of detachment and apathy, and he or she is uninterested in putting any more effort into the relationship.
The verse "All that was severed could not be put back together/You will never make it better, it doesn't matter what ever you do" further emphasizes this idea. The singer feels that the damage has already been done, and there is no hope of reversing it. This feeling is repeated in the chorus, with the line "Too late you're too late/To make this right/Just say goodnight/So let it die." The singer is ready to let go of the relationship and move on, and there's nothing that can be done to change their mind.
The song's final verse, "I will not accept any more apologies/I cannot forgive or forget the memories/You're too late" drives home the notion that the singer is at the end of their rope. Apologies and regret are no longer enough to repair the relationship. The singer has made up their mind, and it's too late for anyone to change it.
