Be slave! Be slave! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Earn! Earn! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday

Call for a finger and take the Hand
Oh tell me, tell me
LIES ... the prize will ...
Rise! Rise! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Be brave! Be brave! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Pray! Pray! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
To God! To God! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Confess! Confess! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Regret! Regret! Ev'ryday, Ev'ryday
Tell me, tell me ...
LIES ...the prize will ...
Rise! Rise! Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
Obey! Obey! Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
Be good! Be good! Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
Deny ... Deny ... Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
... Yourself! ... Yourself! Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
Be quite! Be quite! Ev'ryday, ev'ryday
Tell me, tell me ...
LIES ... the prize will ...
Rise!
The song "Lies" by Still Patient? is a commentary on the societal pressure to conform and obey, the mindless pursuit of wealth, and the lies that we tell ourselves in order to justify our actions. The first verse urges us to work and be slaves, to earn and pursue money every day. The second verse tells us to rise, be brave, pray to God, confess and regret - all actions that suggest that we are not truly living life on our own terms, but are instead following a pre-designed blueprint.
The repeated line "Lies...the prize will..." suggests that there is a reward to be had for following these societal norms, but in reality, the prize may not be all that valuable. The song urges us to question these lies and to break free from the patterns that society has set out for us. It critiques the idea that we need to deny ourselves, be quiet and obedient in order to succeed in life.
Overall, the lyrics of "Lies" are a powerful commentary on the way that society shapes our lives and the narrative that we are told to follow. It encourages us to question this narrative and instead create our own path, living life according to our own values and desires.
