The band's name is old German and means "Stillest Hour" or "Calmest Hour" and traces back to a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche, in which he refers to his deepest and calmest (and at the same time his most terrible) moments as the „Stillest Hour"...
The music of Stillste Stund has often been described as versatile, complex and progressive with many breaks, but on the other side it also has a lot of catchy elements. Stylistically, it might be classified best as Dark Wave mixed to Electro-Gothic with industrial and neo-classical influences as well as chamber music. The music combines electronic and acoustic elements with dark, music score-like atmospherical sounds, supported by expressive male and female vocals. The mood often swings from one extreme to another, sometimes melancholy, sometimes brutal, but always with a strong and intense impact.

Wir Sind Energie
Stillste Stund Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Stillste Stund's song Wir Sind Energie address the concept of energy as the essence of human existence, beyond the physicality of the body. The first verse states that every spark has the potential to ignite a fire, and every thought can move an atom. This idea is extended in the following lines, where thoughts are said to travel into infinity and to many worlds beyond time and space. The chorus invites the listener to close their eyes and see that they are not flesh and blood, but rather energy.
The second verse continues to explore the power of thoughts and desires. It suggests that everything in the perceived reality is only a shadow of something greater, and every event is preceded by a thought striving to manifest itself in a lasting form. The final lines use the analogy of drifting continental plates to describe how thoughts can cause both subtle and catastrophic effects. The lyrics imply that human consciousness, when focused and directed, has the capacity to shape the physical world and transcend it at the same time.
Overall, the song expresses a philosophical viewpoint that aligns with the idea of panpsychism, which proposes that consciousness exists at all levels of matter and is not limited to human or animal brains. The lyrics also evoke the concept of non-duality that permeates many spiritual traditions, wherein the boundary between self and the universe is dissolved.
