Strapped to the wing with the engine running
You say that this wasn't in your plan
Don't mess around with the demolition man
Tied to a chair, and the bomb is ticking
This situation was not of your picking
You say that this wasn't in your plan
I'm a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom
I kill conversation as I walk into the room
I'm a three line whip, I'm the sort of thing they ban
I'm a walking disaster, I'm a demolition man
Tied to a chair, and the bomb is ticking
This situation was not of your picking
You say that this wasn't in your plan
Don't mess around with the demolition man
You come to me like a moth to the flame
It's love you need but I don't play that game
'Cause you could be my greatest fan
But I'm nobody's friend, I'm a demolition man
I'm a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom
I kill conversation as I walk into the room
I'm a three line whip, I'm the sort of thing they ban
I'm a walking disaster, I'm a demolition man
Demolition man
The lyrics of Sting's song "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles / Demolition Man" describe a character who is dangerous and unpredictable, represented by the metaphorical imagery of being tied to tracks with a train fast approaching or strapped to a wing with an engine running. The character is referred to as the "demolition man," a walking nightmare who is an "arsenal of doom," and who kills conversation as soon as he enters a room. This person is not interested in love or friendship, and does not want to play anyone's game. If someone crosses paths with the demolition man, they are warned not to mess around with him.
The overall theme of the song seems to be a warning about the dangers of recklessness and unpredictability. The demolition man represents the chaotic forces that can be unleashed when someone has no regard for the consequences of their actions. The use of metaphorical images such as being strapped to a bomb or tied to tracks helps to emphasize the gravity of these dangers.
Overall, "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles / Demolition Man" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of recklessness and unpredictability. It reminds us that our actions can have serious consequences, and that it is important to think carefully about the choices we make.

Sting's song "Gabriel's Message" is a rendition of the biblical story of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel visits Mary to inform her that she is to be the mother of Jesus Christ. The lyrics describe Gabriel's appearance as he descends from heaven with his wings as white as snow and eyes as bright as flames. Upon seeing Mary, Gabriel greets her with the words "All hail, thou lowly maiden Mary, Most highly favored lady," referring to her as a blessed mother and foretelling that her son will be Emmanuel, as prophesized by seers.
Mary's response to Gabriel's message is one of humility and acceptance, as she meekly bows her head and says, "To me be as it pleaseth God," praising and magnifying His holy name. The lyrics are a beautiful interpretation of this pivotal moment in Christian history, showcasing the wonder and awe of Gabriel's visitation, and the steadfast faith and acceptance of Mary's response.
