Fragile
Sting & Julio Iglesias Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Least we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say

How fragile we are
How fragile we are

Overall Meaning

The song "Fragile" by Sting and Julio Iglesias is a melancholic ballad that speaks of the fragility of life, the transience of human existence, and the dangers of violence. The song opens by describing the gruesome imagery of blood that flows when "flesh and steel are one," indicating the destructive potential of war and violence. However, the evening sun hints at the promise of renewal and healing, as the rain that follows will wash away the stains left by the violence. Nevertheless, the song suggests that trauma and painful memories linger in the mind, regardless of how well we try to forget or reconcile ourselves.

The second verse speaks of the final act being meant to "clinch a lifetime's argument," possibly alluding to how violence and conflict never lead to lasting solutions. The song then shifts to a more introspective tone, asserting that we must not forget how fragile life is, and how easily we may succumb to its uncertainties. The repetition of the chorus amplifies the message of the song, conveying a sense of timelessness that echoes the eternal nature of the rain that falls like "tears from a star."

Iglesias is not worth $650 million because he puts on a big flashy show.

His extraordinary artistic talent, his hypnotic voice are given in this post wwii era when
Feminazis and other Marxists have been working diligently
to indoctrinate all
that male and female genders are fluid and not real.

The long and lasting phenomenon of the God-given talent of Iglesias
is a potent reminder
that men and women are not the same...
and an invaluable testimony of
how much we who are (born
and identifying as )
women do need, value
and appreciate: romantic, manly men.

I've been listening to Julio for decades and I never get tired. There may be others who sing better, stronger and more powerful than him; but the softness, lightness, the poetic posture and ease with which he sings are unique. Not to mention his whisperred accent in the melody, which makes him at least for me, simply the best.
