The band broke up in 1984, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour lasting until August 2008, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne" and also, to a lesser extent, that of their formation as a group. The Police have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and became the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, thanks to their reunion tour. Rolling Stone ranked The Police number 70 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Fields Of Gold
Sting & The Police Lyrics

You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we walk in fields of gold
So she took her love for to gaze awhile upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love among the fields of barley?
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we lie in fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so upon the fields of barley.
I never made promises lightly and there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left we'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky when we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold, when we walked in fields of gold
The lyrics of "Fields of Gold" by Sting & The Police depict a love story that takes place amidst fields of barley and the golden hues of the sunset. The song speaks of a couple who will remember each other even when the wind sweeps through the fields and beckons them to let go of the past. In their moment together, they forget not only their surroundings but even the sun in its "jealous" sky. The song sings of the beauty of nature and how it acts as a backdrop to their love.
Much of the song is focused on the feelings that are evoked through the simple act of being in nature; the sun, wind, and fields of barley all act as symbols of a simpler, happier time. The memories that are cherished of this time are ones that the lovers intend to keep with them forever, as they remember each other with fondness and longing.
Overall, Sting & The Police's "Fields of Gold" is a poignant portrayal of love, memory, and nature. The song's soothing melody and gentle lyrics make for a powerful mix, reminding us of the beauty of simplicity and the importance of treasuring the memories that we hold dear.
