Anhedonia
Stolas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've failed to leave this alone
Attention drifts, slips through consciousness
Reflections are fooling everyone
It's obvious, It's obvious
My head against this board
I'm picking up the same routine
A screen will quickly fade
I'm still picking the same routine
Alienate even farther from everything around
Eyes never close addicted to code
Closing in around
When I'm gone you'll still be here
And on to someone new
You're everywhere with everyone
And on to someone new
Just as others addicted
We all belong to you
Just as others addicted
We all belong to you
My head against this board
I'm picking up the same routine
A screen will quickly fade
I'm picking up the same routine
Alienate even farther from everything around
Eyes never close addicted to code
Closing in around
Time is quick it grabs you
Pulls you down and changes you
Can I just get it right

Eyes never close addicted to code
Closing in around

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Stolas's song Anhedonia express a sense of apathy and detachment from reality that can sometimes be caused by depression. The singer talks about being unable to leave a certain state of mind alone, and how his attention drifts aimlessly, not able to focus on anything for too long. The line "Reflections are fooling everyone" suggests that he can’t even trust what he sees in himself anymore.

The phrases "Alienate even farther from everything around" and "Eyes never close addicted to code" imply that the singer is becoming increasingly isolated from the world around him due to his addiction to technology. He feels disconnected from real human interaction and has created a reliance on the screen. The last lines of the song are some of the most poignant, talking about how time passes by quickly, and if he can just get it right, maybe he can break out of his current state of apathy.

Overall, the lyrics to Anhedonia are a powerful representation of the effects of depression and addiction on someone’s life, and how those two things can combine to create a feeling of total numbness.

I grew up on bands like Fall of Troy, Mars Volta, and Circa Survive. I thought those days were over. Been listening to these new tracks all day, can't thank you guys enough as a band for writing this music, I love it. I personally love the vocal style. Excellent musicianship all around. Congrats on the release! I hope it brings you success!.

@CRW

I hope you listen to Sianvar too in that case!

@tccpeacemaker85

there are a lot of bands that might fit to your taste: a lot like birds, Dance Gavin Dance, Protest The Hero, Sianvar e. g. still producing music =)

@enriquequiroga2824

Protest The Hero! Sianvar!

@alinne7427

Go check Sianvar, dude! The lead singer is not as good as Carlo but Sergio (Stolas Guitarist) is part of the band too.

@MessyJoe

I agree, thats crazy to claim Donavon isn't as good as Carlos. I like Carlos but he's still an amateur
