Gathering focus
I have no pity for a prison that died
Don't even say it
Consider the source again
Your indecision let me make up my mind
Will make you contagious
What does it matter when the human is gone
Before you bother
I knew I'd mastered this
So take your time
'Cause I know what went wrong
There's only room in here for one
And I've decided it's not you
I had to do what must be done
You would have done it too
Suddenly I'm feeling strange
I know you want it
Tell me you will never change
I know you wanted to
Nobody's out there
You're getting us nowhere
I just remember why I put you through hell
You might be different
But I didn't ask for this
You know you're crazy when you're talking to yourself
There's only room in here for one
And I've decided it's not you
I had to do what must be done
You would have done it too
Suddenly I'm feeling strange
I know you want it
Tell me you will never change
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
Why delay or complicate
The gravity of my persuasion
Look into that part of you
I am you without hesitation
There's only room in here for one
And I've decided it's not you
I had to do what must be done
You would have done it too
Suddenly I'm feeling strange
I know you want it
Tell me you will never change
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
I know you wanted to
The lyrics of "My Name Is Allen" by Stone Sour seem to portray the thoughts and emotions of someone who has been imprisoned, possibly wrongfully so. The first stanza expresses a sense of focus that the singer has gained, with no pity for the prison that has died. This could be a metaphor for the inability to escape one's own mind, and the singer may have come to terms with being stuck in this situation. The second stanza seems to be directed towards someone who may have doubted the singer's decision-making abilities, but the singer asserts that they have already figured out what went wrong. They also seem to suggest that being alone is better than being in the company of someone they don't trust.
The subsequent lines continue to showcase the singer's strain of thought, with references to talking to oneself and being considered crazy. They express a desire for the other person to understand that they had to make a tough decision, and that the other person would have done the same. However, the chorus brings about a sudden shift in tone, with the singer claiming that they know the other person wants something they can't have. The final stanza suggests an attempt at understanding and empathizing with the other person, as they argue that they are not so different from each other.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be a reflection of the singer's internal struggle, trying to justify their actions and come to terms with the consequences. The song appears to depict a character portrait of someone conflicted with a decision they had to make.
