The Bitter End
Stone Sour Lyrics

A situation where the lie's behind the truth
Come together and deny the fucking proof
I'm ready to surrender, surrender, remember, forever is
Over now
If I can't stop you, I'll never get to start again
Nail my soul to the middle of a cross that fills this hole
I never understood the written word
Don't forget that I'm not aware of what you heard
I'm ready to surrender, surrender, remember, forever is
Over now
If I can't stop you, I'll never get to start again
If I don't watch you, I'll never see the bitter end
Hold it high, show the sky your destiny
Close your eyes, and burn away your hate
Hold it high, we can feel our prayers as we
Close our eyes, we can take the world away
Forever is over now
Forever is over now
Forever is over now
If I can't stop you, I'll never get to start again
If I don't watch you, I'll never see the bitter end
Hold it high, show the sky your destiny
Close your eyes, and burn away your hate
Hold it high, we can feel our prayers as we
Close our eyes, we can take the world
Take the world away
The lyrics to Stone Sour's song The Bitter End convey a sense of defeat and surrender. The first few lines paint a picture of a dying universe, and lead into the chorus where the singer is ready to give up and surrender. The lines "If I can't stop you, I'll never get to start again, If I don't watch you, I'll never see the bitter end" indicate a sense of powerlessness and lack of control. The following lines "Nail my soul to the middle of a cross that fills this hole, I never understood the written word, Don't forget that I'm not aware of what you heard" continue the theme of surrender and feeling lost. The image of nailing one's soul to a cross suggests a sense of sacrifice or martyrdom, but also a desire to be anchored to something.
However, towards the end of the song, there is a glimmer of hope. The lines "Hold it high, show the sky your destiny, Close your eyes, and burn away your hate" suggest that there is still potential to rise above the bitterness and negativity. The repetition of "Forever is over now" may suggest a letting go of past failures or regrets, and moving forward with a fresh perspective. The song ultimately ends on a hopeful note, with the lines "Close our eyes, we can take the world away" conveying a sense of determination and empowerment.
