Never say a word
When you feel like your rights are wrong
When you feel like you've stayed too long
Let him go, he's let you down
Just let me show you why
Every life is a chance to try,
I know this time,
I never wanted to destroy your dream come true
And all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home
In the dark we're all the same
We only seem alone
There's a place that we all must hide,
There's a place that we lock from the inside
Everything we ever were
And everything we are
We will heal as the days roll by
'Cause in the end it's you and I
I know this time,
I never wanted to destroy your dream come true
And all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home
We are sewn inside the fabric that is holding us together
We get no ? that something so tragic would save us all
Would save us all, we are on our own again
We are on our own again
I know this time,
I never wanted to destroy your dream come true
And all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home
The lyrics to Stone Sour's song "Threadbare" are a poignant commentary on relationships, both with oneself and with others. The opening lines, "Hold your breath and say goodbye, never say a word," suggest a reluctance to let go, even when it's necessary. The following lines, "When you feel like your rights are wrong, when you feel like you've stayed too long," describe the feeling of being trapped in a situation that doesn't feel right or fulfilling, but being unsure how to leave.
The chorus is an earnest plea to a loved one to stay, even though the relationship may be fraught with difficulty. The lines "I know this time, I never wanted to destroy your dream come true, and all this time, I never wanted to destroy someone like you" reveal a deep concern for the other person's well-being, even if it means sacrificing one's own desires. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the belief that healing is possible if both parties work together.
Overall, "Threadbare" is a moving and relatable song about the complexities of human relationships, and the difficulty of letting go of someone or something that no longer serves us.
