And So I Know
Stone Temple Pilots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And so I know
It's begun again
Never be the same
And with that I said

Never, ever, be this way again

Hold on 'til the end (Campfire girls make me feel alright)
Like it's the last hello
Whirlwinds and rollercoasters (Campfire girls make)
Long grass making shapes hello

Disappearing, disappearing floating graves

Never, ever, ever, ever be this way
And never, ever be this way again

Never, ever, ever, ever be this way
And never, ever be this way again

And so I know (Campfire girls make me)
It's begun again (feel alright)
Never be the same (Campfire girls make me)
And with that I said (feel alright)
(Campfire girls make me feel alright)

(Campfire girls make me feel alright)
Campfire girls

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Stone Temple Pilots' song "And So I Know" are poetic and open to interpretation. The overall theme seems to be about the cyclical nature of life and the idea that nothing stays the same. The opening line "And so I know it's begun again" suggests that the cycles of life are starting over. The following line "Never be the same and with that I said, Never ever be this way again" implies that although things are starting over, they will never be exactly the same as before. This could be a reflection on personal growth and change, with the singer recognizing that they are not the same person they were before and acknowledging that they cannot go back to that previous version of themselves.

The lines "Hold on till the end like it's the last hello, whirlwinds and rollercoasters, long grass making shapes hello, disappearing disappearing floating graves" are somewhat enigmatic. The idea of holding on until the end like it's the last hello could be a reminder to appreciate and savor the moment, as it may be the last time this experience can be had. The whirlwinds and rollercoasters could be a metaphor for the ups and downs of life, while the long grass and disappearing floating graves evoke images of impermanence and the transitory nature of existence.

Finally, the repeated line "Campfire girls make me feel alright" adds a touch of nostalgia and innocence to the song. It's unclear what this line means exactly, but it could be a reference to a past experience or a symbol of comfort and safety in troubled times.

And it seems the time has faded roses
Broken vases
Water flows too deep
Can’t seem to leave this feeling
Thorned inside of me
Catch a glimpse of days
So sunny
Warm and smiley faces
Close my eyes and see
Dream of you and me
Cast the line
Skippin stones
As far as I could reach
Start the fire
Feel the flame
Lost inside of me
Callin out your name
It’s torture
Never feel the same
Callin out your name
it’s over
standing here in vain
And it seems the time has faded love
broken wasted
soul to soul too deep
Can’t seem to leave this feeling
Thorned inside of me
Catch a glimpse of days
So sunny
Warm and smiley faces
Close my eyes and see
Dream of you and me
Cast the line
Skippin stones
As far as I could reach
Start the fire
Feel the flame
Lost inside of me
Callin out your name
It’s torture
Never feel the same
Callin out your name
it’s over
standing here in vain
callin’ out your name ~ Darri Scottch

This is one of STP’s greatest songs, in my opinion. It really highlighted their versatility as musicians and songwriters, which went beyond that of other bands in that 90’s cohort.

@chilenskbjorn8737

yeah, they are my number 1 or 2 favorite band ever, and that's exactly why: how versatile they were (and still are, now with Jeff), from heavy stuff in Core or Purle, too beautiful melodies in Tiny Music..or Shangri-la dee daa. The mixture between them Deleo bross, Scott's voice sometimes soft like silk, others powerful and manly and finally Eric's beats were unique and wonderful to hear. The sad part is most people only know "plush", "creep" or "sour girl" or "interstate lovesong', when it's the little gems like "and so I know" what make them remarkable.

@ChickenatorJr

I love the song Atlanta it's so Jazzy it reminds me of These are a few of my Favourite Things

@robertojuanfernandez1558
