She’s an addict, and even admitted to Elliot she’d still be doing drugs if her Dad was alive, which triggered severe symptoms of her mental illnesses. She’s trying to manipulate and gaslight everyone around her to hide her use of drugs, and even used Ali’s regrets against him even though he had the most faith in her. You can guide and support people so far until you realize that they’ll never want that help. Some people choose their own paths and we have to accept that. We don’t have to feel bad for Rue.

I get both sides. Rue is selfish but she is hurt. I mean that ending with her dancing alone in her room imagining she is with her dad. I feel that lost mine in 19. I never did drugs. But i get the draw to it. I have had young friends I sponsored. They legit had fucked up lives. They are clean now but I get it I suffer from depression and anxiety low self esteem. I know deep down if I was to start I would be a Rue. One reason I don't I just don't want her ending up dead or killed in Season 3

But I only feel sorry for Gia and her mom that have to fight her and this situation, Rue has the “luxury” for get herself in a maniac state, detached from logic and in a defense mode that enables her to turn into a completely monster, giving her so much advantage over her family, saying things she doesn’t mean. Hurting them, torturing them, something her family has to not only endure but can’t do it back since their goal is to help her and survive her. They’re fighting different battles unfortunately and Rue is the only one that can put an end to it. It’s unfair and devastating for Gia and the Mom. Simply hurtful.

Idk if I'm the only one but I feel like rue is internally trapped and no one has been able to help her with the addiction and the feel good that is not caring about things that to care about is without a doubt the most exhausting thing anyone with drug habits and depression and anxiety and many other disorders on top of that. I think that if her and Elliot talk more and become a thing maybe they can balance out those issues. Maybe she'll be able to look at Elliot like he's a mirror reflecting herself. And once she sees what everyone's been seeing and heard what everyone's been hearing from their perspective when shes having a manic episode she'll realize the pain she's causing others and she'll also realize how much a mistake it was going at Ali the way she did. And maybe she'll be more honest with herself. Maybe it's just me. Hope she recovers from this darkness. I myself know the pain and am recovering. So seeing a character I can relate to really helps me see I'm not alone.

Amazingly realistic acting from both, it makes it hard to watch. Zendaya is sensational in this show, even if it is problematic sometimes. I think it would be better to just focus on Rue and her addiction and the way it affects her family. It’s these scenes that keep me coming back, not the other teenage drama shit.

I look back and wonder if Gina is actually the main character. Is it symbolic how a (drastically) different looking actress plays Rue in her flashbacks, pero like she overdosed and came back as Zendaya! What if the whole point is that Rue and her circle are "celebrities" and Gina is just in middle school trying to be good so nothing is happening but fractions and milk at lunch. I'm curious how different Gina's high school experience is versus Rue because Rue has her dead father to fall back on to defend (somewhat) with her addiction. It's a solo trip with Rue. [Spoiler] That crazy drug lady could kidnap Gina instead of Rue.

Weed its self isn’t bad, but it shouldn’t be used by people who have drug issues. Addicts smoking weed could lead to relapse. Also if you even watched the episode, Rue was just using weed as a coverup for doing more drugs.
