1. A British rock band
2. A British hip-hop group
The dark side of the '90s Britpop revival, Bristol's Strangelove married Patrick Duff's deep, lovelorn croon to a spider's web of glistening guitar lines which Radiohead held as an early influence.
The poetic, purple wine-tinged grace of their first two drug infused albums has not dated in the intervening years and while their final eponymous release suffered from the tensions tearing the band apart, their legacy of Bad Seeds/Doors inspired epics and frantically crawling the walls poetry endures.
Great B-sides too.
Following the demise of the band in 1998:
Patrick Duff went solo - eventually releasing the album "Luxury Problems" in 2005 on the EMI imprint Harvest.
Guitarist Alex Lee joined Suede briefly for their swansong release "A New Morning" before cementing his place in the live Placebo line-up.
While the remaining members Joe Allen (bass), Julian Pransky-Poole (guitar) and John Langley (drums) formed Saturation Point.
At the time of writing (August 2007) Duff is currently prepping his second solo release with the assistance of Lee.

Why do you wait here alone?
The lights are cold - the music's over Queenie
All your dancing friends have flown
Everybody's grown
But you're still clinging to the old dreams Queenie
A frightened child you won't let go
You try so hard to fit them new clothes Queenie
Christ, you look so old
Give yourself a little treat
Give up these hopeless dreams
Give yourself a little treat
And set yourself free
Give yourself a chance to see
You're exactly what you're meant to be
You're beautiful to me
You're beautiful don't you see
You little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
Whilst you pushed against the whole world Queenie
You let your life all slip away
You try so hard to push the clock back Queenie
That you missed out on today
Living yesterdays
Give yourself a little treat
Give up these hopeless dreams
Give yourself a little treat
And set yourself free
Give yourself a chance to see
You're exactly what you're meant to be
You're beautiful to me
You're beautiful don't you see
You little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
Throwing all your love into another commotion
Shooting off your mouth to keep the party in motion
Acting out the role where you don't feel no emotion
Why do you not see
You're already beautiful
Why don't you see
You little Queen
Why can't you see
You little Queen
Sha la la la la you little Queen
Sha la la la la you little Queen
Sha la la la la la you little Queen
Sha la la la la you little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
You little Queen
The lyrics to Strangelove's song Little Queenie express empathy and concern towards a woman named Queenie who refuses to let go of her past and move on with her life. The party is over, and all of Queenie's friends have left, but she remains, holding onto old dreams and trying to fit into new clothes. The song describes her as a frightened child who won't let go of the past, and as someone who tries so hard to push the clock back that she misses out on today. The chorus advises Queenie to give herself a little treat, to give up these hopeless dreams, to set herself free, and to give herself a chance to see that she's exactly what she's meant to be- beautiful.
The song suggests that Queenie has been throwing all her love into another commotion, perhaps partying or pursuing people who are not good for her. She shoots off her mouth to keep the party in motion, but she doesn't feel any emotion. She's acting out a role that doesn't reflect who she really is. Despite all of this, the song concludes that Queenie is already beautiful, and that she just needs to see herself for who she truly is.
