I Will Breathe Fire
Strata Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I am just the skin around a scar.
I am like a pill to help you heal.
I was only trying
To make you feel something.
I will
Breathe fire,
Never stop to think about myself
To everything for everybody else
You wasted every chance you ever had.
So when did you give up
And grow so sad?
You know that I can't push the world aside.
If only I could stop and
Turn back time
I would
You are watching the fall of an empire!
Send the soldiers home!
And as the flags come down
A new king is crowned.
Woke up on a beach.
I stared at the blue
And I watched the waves
Come and
Overtake you.
The lyrics to Strata's song "I Will Breathe Fire" are about a person who is constantly putting themselves last and putting everyone else’s needs before their own. The person sees themselves as insignificant, like a needle in someone else’s arm or the skin around a scar. The person wants to help others heal and feel something, but in the process has forgotten to take care of themselves. They feel like they must always be strong for others and cannot afford to stop and think about themselves. They want to "breathe fire" and keep going for everybody else despite their own struggles.
The song also talks about watching someone else fall from grace and not being able to do anything about it. The singer wishes they could turn back time and start over to prevent the downfall. The last portion of the song is about waking up to the reality of the situation, that the old ways no longer have a place in the world and a new order is taking over. The lyrics suggest that the person is witnessing the end of a kingdom, both literally and figuratively.
Overall, the song is about the struggle to maintain one’s own wellbeing while feeling like they must support others at all times. It also comments on the struggle of change and letting go of the past.
