This female-fronted troupe weaves catchy tunes and thoughtful instrumentation through the evocative vocal melodies of songwriter Emi Knight. Her powerful and poignant lyrics conjure detailed portraitures of her experience growing up in a rural town in the Ohio River Valley. She often tackles deeply personal issues of family trauma and abuse. Her willingness to share these dark experiences and transform them into defiant and poetic moments of growth is contagious, and draws listeners deeper as they find themselves reflected in these innately human stories. However, you might not catch the captivating authenticity and vulnerability found in the lyrics at first listen because, at heart Strawberry Runners are suckers for sick pop tunes, and hooky melodies.

Perfect timing Luke!! My first time planting edibles and my strawberries have runners with little roots, so the way you do it for you makes sense for me. I'll be cutting mine off and putting them into another area. I know some people think you take a while to explain, but I for one appreciate it since I'm just starting out and I have a lot to learn. Thank you young man, Peace to you and yours!

I root runners into bio-degradable peat pots for thirty days. Then sever them from the mother plant and plant them where I want them. With this method thereβs no root disturbance and the pot decomposes away over winter.

Thanks for the response Kris Oluich. I started 3 Allstar strawberry plants in a wicking 5 gallon bucket. They produced runners and all rooted in the soil underneath. There starting to bloom. I was going to dig them up and transplant in 5 gallon wicking buckets but sure what to do.
Gardening With the Rabbit Lady
Going to try that tomorrow. Good idea.

If short on plants/runners, or to simply increase success rate, allow the runner to root before clipping it. One can place a small pot of soil under each runner and allow the runner to root in the pot before clipping it off the mother plant.

It's good to know that they're so flexible. I've split and transplanted alpine strawberries more than typical garden varieties. I would love to expand my strawberry beds, but I probably need to fertilize a little more if that's the goal! π

Thanks for this video! So this is my first season with my strawberry plants and theyβve already gotten their runners well under way. Is it okay to be cutting the runners out since this is my first year and Iβm trying to get the mother plants a really well-established root system? Or should I let the first round of runners root so I donβt hurt the new mother plants their first season?
Heidi Cisneros McCann
Thank you! Iβm container growing and my plants have a load of runners! And they are about 4 feet long from a hanging container. I didnβt want to cut them away and toss, so Iβm looking forward to trying this method. Next is to find your videos on wintering stawberries!

Hey Luke, I know I'm a bit late for this video, but it was really helpful and I still had one question about runners from all plants in general. When clipping them to start new plants, I've always had confusion with what to do with the extra stem. Do you cut the runner stem right up to the plant and roots, or leave a bit? Thanks so much for you help.

you can just cut the runner wherever you want. that 'stem" is going to dry up anyway.
