Come On Over
When you're feeling down
Don't you make a sound
Come on over to my place, come on in
If you've got the time
I'm sure you'll find
chorus
Come on over to my place if you want
Come on over to my place if you want
If you're cold I'll light a fire
(Keep you warm)
Sit down we'll talk together
(We'll talk together)
I'm sure there's plenty you will say
You'll be so glad you came in
(You'll be glad)
There's no sense in running
(No sense in running)
You learned to run before you crawled
chorus
If you need some sympathy
Call on me babe, I'm the one to see
And if you need a helping hand
Call on me babe, I will understand
chorus
Come on over, come on over
repeat
The song "Come On Over" by Stray is an invitation to someone who is feeling down to come over and seek comfort and solace. The lyrics convey the message that the singer's house is a safe haven where the person can feel welcomed and cared for. The opening line "When you're feeling down, don't you make a sound" indicates that the person may be struggling internally and perhaps hiding their pain. The singer encourages this person to open up and come to his place where they can talk and find comfort in each other's company. The phrase "If you've got the time, I'm sure you'll find, I'll make you welcome, come on in" is a warm invitation to the person, assuring them that they will be welcomed and made to feel comfortable.
The chorus "Come on over to my place if you want, If you're cold I'll light a fire (Keep you warm), Sit down we'll talk together (We'll talk together), I'm sure there's plenty you will say, You'll be so glad you came in (You'll be glad), There's no sense in running (No sense in running), You learned to run before you crawled" reiterates the singer's invitation, reiterating his offer of comfort and reassurance that there is nothing to fear. The singer assures the person that they will find a sympathetic ear and hand to hold in difficult times. The final line of the chorus "You learned to run before you crawled" is a metaphor for how the person is trying to move away from their issues without understanding them fully.
Overall, the song's message is about reaching out to others and finding comfort in their companionship. It suggests that it's better to open up and seek help rather than to suffer in solitude. The song's soothing melody and reassuring lyrics make it a comforting and uplifting tune that can lift anyone's spirits.
