Amnesia Hero
Stray From the Path Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My life's not worth as
Much as your death
The lyrics to Stray from the Path's song Amnesia Hero paint a vivid and disturbing picture of a person driven by sinister and violent intentions. The opening lines "Scrambling for the phone - Screaming to a dial tone" reveal the sense of urgency and desperation in the singer's actions. The next line, "couldn't get 3 digits down before I had you out the door" hints at the person's willingness to act on their impulses before thinking things through.
The second verse reveals the violent nature of the singer's intention as they describe the "stab wounds inflicted by the malicious intent of therapeutic ink-filled utensils." The victim's voice is silenced with "webs that you've spun," and the singer's cold and dismissive attitude is made clear when they say, "your apologies are bandaids for a hemophiliac." The following line, "Your eyes see not where we venture nor the smile that this brings me," reveals the twisted delight the singer is taking in the situation.
The final lines of the song reveal the singer's plan to kill their victim, as they state, "I'll rid the world of you." The chilling line, "but to survive and not recall the deed I'm about to do would be worse than death itself," adds another layer of horror to the situation. The song ends with a sense of finality as the singer bids their victim goodbye.
