Stray From the Path Lyrics
So go on and be what they told you to be
They didn’t have faith in me
And now I’m ending up on the radio
So go on, go on and be what they told you to be
They didn’t have faith in me
And now I’m ending up on the radio
I saw you laughing when I chose my path
Just some young punk kid always skipping class
I know that’s what you thought, what you bought but you got it wrong
Family wants to talk like they know what’s best
Outdated wisdom I’m not at all impressed
I see clear intentions to make me feel less
I’ve only just begun to get this off my chest
I did it, I've made it
I’m a rolling stone and you hate it
Admit it, you're fading
You've missed your train and I’m the one that you’re blaming
So go on and be what they told you to be
They didn't have faith in me
And now I'm ending up on the radio
I did it, I've made it
I’m a rolling stone and you hate it
Admit it, you're fading
You've missed your train and I’m the one that you’re blaming
But I'm ending up on the radio
So go on and be what they told you to be they didn’t have faith in me
And now I’m ending up on the radio
So go on, go on and be what they told you to be
They didn’t have faith in me
And now I’m ending up on the radio
Now I’m laughing, hahaha!
So out of gas on the verge of breaking down
Close to crashing on the side of the road
You'll never get out of this town
Coming clean suppose to be behind me
Out of touch so you judge me blindly
Here we are, here we stand the new breed of success
Feeling good because it’s finally off my chest
I did it, I've made it
I’m a rolling stone and you hate it
Admit it, you're fading
You've missed your train and I’m the one that you’re blaming
So go on and be what they told you to be
They didn't have faith in me
And now I'm ending up on the radio
Get up, get up!
You think your life’s a hit song
No one is singing along
You think your life’s a hit song
No one is singing along
You think your life’s a hit song
No one is singing along
You think your life’s a hit song
No one, no one is singing along

"Let me just start by saying this is my personal favourite song on the record.
For most of my life I was told that playing in a band was a phase and something I would grow out of. I was told I would never be on a label, I would never go anywhere and I would never make any money doing it. I never let it bring me down and I certainly never thought those words were true. This song explains a lot about growing up, doing what you love and proving people wrong. Read Full Bio"Let me just start by saying this is my personal favourite song on the record.
It's like a big fuck you to all the people who doubted us. We all have had our own experiences with family members, teachers, or even friends telling us what a waste of time being in this band was, the best part is that none of that shit mattered to any of us.
Having Jesse Barnett (Stick To Your Guns) on this track was real dope. He's been a true friend to the band for a long time. We always wanted to work with him and I'm glad it worked out. His vocals are fantastic and I think we picked the perfect track for him to be on. When Jesse and I are going back and forth over the fast beat saying 'I did it, I've made it' it's kinda like we're saying 'I told you so' to some old adult who is bitter because they never did half the shit we have done.
The ending breakdown hits super hard and the lyrics are tight. 'You think your life's a hit song, no one is singing along.' The people that were telling us how we wouldn't make it thought that they were right all along, like what they were doing with their lives was so great. Really, it's the exact opposite."

Stray has released two new albums but I'm still stuck jamming Make Your Own History. I should probably buy these new albums and catch up....
