Thick and Thin
Stray From the Path Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We've been through so much
But it's only just begun
I like to think back to
Where this all started from
Back to the days when
Your friends are what mattered most and we took that for granted
And sometimes it takes
The loss of one to open your eyes
To what you've really got
Through thick and thin believe me when I say
I'll always be there for you
I'll die for any one of you

Overall Meaning

In "Thick and Thin," Stray from the Path reflects on the bonds of friendship that have been tested but remain unbreakable. The opening lines acknowledge the hardships that have been faced together, but also suggest that there is more to come. The lyrics then backtrack to a time when relationships were simpler and friends were the most important thing. However, as time passed, the importance of those friendships seemed to be taken for granted until the loss of one of those friends made them appreciate what they still had. The song serves as a reminder to cherish those relationships and to understand that they may be tested, but they remain strong through thick and thin.

The song touches on the idea of loyalty and selflessness for the sake of friendship. The line "I'll die for any one of you" shows the willingness to sacrifice for the people that mean the most. It's about something deeper than just a bond between friends; it's about a community and the understanding that an individual's well-being is linked to the well-being of the group. The song also acknowledges that fights and arguments may occur, but it's important to remember the foundation of love and support that the friendships were built upon. Through all of the highs and lows, Stray from the Path encourages listeners to hold on tight to what truly matters.

SmugglinMuffins

I'd just like to say that this video is one of my favorites. Regardless of what everyone is interpreting the "message" as, I'm seeing these guys perform with passion and aggression with some interesting footage that just makes this a successful cohesive composition from a band who knows what they're doing. You just gotta love this video. Stray From the Path is simply just a sweet band, but this is all just coming from a stoned fan who is jammin to some aggressive tunes

Normie Peasant

Still so good after all these years.
