When most people think of Black Friday they think of insane deals on Apple products or ridiculous low prices on a piece of jewellry. Now I'm not saying members of Stray From The Path don't appreciate a good deal on a gift for a loved one before the holiday season, but I am sure as hell not part of the group that's speeding in their car to Best Buy at 2:00am trampling over other human beings to get cheap electronics for themselves.
The fact that this period of materialistic mayhem happens just a few hours after Thanksgiving is unacceptable. We think people show their true colours after the one day of the year you should be especially grateful for what you have."
Black Friday

I can tell that it's not right
Tonight anything goes after midnight
Watch your back
The world has lost control
Cars full of people who would sell their soul
As they gather far and wide like a cattle
Armed with their wallets, loaded guns for a battle
I'm still waiting for he world to see
What this life is supposed to mean
You can't buy me I'm not for sale (I'm not for sale)
Money won't buy a heart of gold
They're fresh out
They were free with self control
You can't buy me I'm not for sale (I'm not for sale)
Money won't buy a heart of gold
They're fresh out
They were free with self control
Is there anybody out there?
Does anybody care?
Is there anybody out there?
I would rather have nothing than this
I would rather have nothing than miss (have nothing)
What I really care for
What I'd die for
Rip out my hair for, mothers cry for
Appreciation for the shit you've got
Appreciated is what you're not
I won't be bought
You can't buy me I'm not for sale (I'm not for sale)
Money won't buy a heart of gold
They're fresh out
They were free with self control
You can't buy me I'm not for sale (I'm not for sale)
Money won't buy a heart of gold
They're fresh out
They were free with self control
It goes, it goes
One for the money
Two for the money
Forget about the Third world
They ain't hungry
Four closed homes
Five missed payments on
Six loans
The dumbest people with the smartest phones
(The dumbest people with the smartest phones, haha)
I fear
Scared that you won't
Next year
You're still ungrateful It will
I bet that it will
(Be worse) Be worse
Let me express what I'm thankful for
I'm twenty-five, full of pride
Surrounded by the ones I love
I fear
Scared that you won't
Next year
You're still ungrateful It will
I bet that it will
(Be worse) Be worse
You should all be shameful for
Shopping lines, stolen lives
You're still my material whore
American Greed
Too many people buying too many things
They don't even need, they're just following lead
American Greed
Too many people buying too many things
They don't fucking need, it's just
American Greed
Everything must go
Tonight, tonight
The world's lost control
Tonight, tonight
Anything goes
Tonight, tonight
We won't be bought or sold
Tonight, tonight
In "Black Friday" by Stray from the Path, the singer is warning about the consumerist culture that overtakes society, particularly on the commercial holiday of Black Friday. The lyrics describe a world that has lost control, where people are willing to sell their souls and line up as if they were cattle, armed with their wallets like loaded guns. The song denounces the idea that money can buy anything, including a heart of gold, suggesting that people have become free of self-control and forgotten the true meaning of life. The singer is afraid that this greed will only get worse and that people are ungrateful for what they have, leading to a world that is out of control.
The lyrics in "Black Friday" allude to the negative aspects of consumerism, and the chorus emphasizes the idea that people cannot be bought. The repetition of the line "you can't buy me I'm not for sale" emphasizes the singer's resistance to the consumerist culture that is represented on Black Friday. The song plays around with ideas about ownership and materialism, with lines like "They were free with self-control" and "You're still my material whore." Ultimately, the song warns about the negative impact of greed and consumerism, and the way that they have overtaken society.
