Blue Skies
Strays Don't Sleep Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Since we last spoke
How's your halo?
Just between you and I
You and me and the satellites
I never believed you
I only wanted to
Before all of this
Do you ever get homesick?
I can't get used to it
I can't get used to it
I'll never get used to it
I'll never get used to it
I'm under that night
I'm under those same stars
We're in a red car
You asleep at my side
Going in and out of the headlights
Could I have saved you?
Would that betrayed you?
I wanna burn this film
You alone with those pills
What you couldn't do I will
I forgive you
I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you
I forgive you
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue, blue skies
(I'll forgive you) For blue
Skies
The song "Blue Skies" by Strays Don't Sleep is a melancholic piece about regret, forgiveness, and the inevitable passage of time. The lyrics are infused with nostalgia and sadness, as the singer reminisces about old times and wonders what could have been done differently. The opening lines "It's been a long year since we last spoke/ How's your halo?" set the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer acknowledging the distance and estrangement that has come between them and the person they are addressing. The reference to the halo is ambiguous, but it suggests that the other person may have changed or lost their innocence in some way.
The chorus "For blue, blue skies" is repeated throughout the song, like a mantra or a plea for redemption. The color blue is associated with both sadness and hope, and it is clear that the skies symbolize a brighter, more optimistic future that the singer desperately wants to believe in. However, the repetition of the line "I'll never get used to it" demonstrates the singer's resignation and acceptance of the fact that some things cannot be changed or undone.
Overall, "Blue Skies" is a powerful and emotional song that captures the fleeting nature of life and the importance of forgiveness and acceptance. The haunting melody and poignant lyrics make it a standout track that resonates with listeners on a deep level.

'Could I have saved you? Would that have betrayed you?' I played those words over and over again in my head when my best friend killed herself almost three years ago. Tonight (literally four hours ago) I found out another good friend of mine has ended her own life. This time, I'm feeling guilt over not contacting her for the final couple of weeks. I had no clue she was struggling again. I have mental health problems myself and have spent over 400 nights in psychiatric wards. As a result, I know a lot of people who have taken their own lives. I can tell you, this news never gets any easier to hear, and I will never EVER get used to it. Rest in peace LA. You'll be so so missed.
