Red Rubber Ball
Streetlight Manifesto Lyrics

I should have known you'd bid me farewell
There's a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well
Now, I know you're not the only starfish in the sea
If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball
(2x)
You never care for secrets I confide
For you I'm just an ornament, something for your pride
Always running, never caring, that's the life you live
Stolen minutes of your time were all you had to give

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball
(2x)

The story's in the past with nothin' to recall
I've got my life to live and I don't need you at all
The rollercoaster ride we took is nearly at an end
I bought my ticket with my tears and that's all I'm gonna spend

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball
Yeah, the morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball
Oh, morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball

What a strange song to choose to cover! I like it though, so good on you Streetlight Manifesto.

Zanti

@Lynn R Hirst Actually, it was The Diodes who chose to cover this song when Paul Simon, who wrote the song, expressed a dislike for punk rock. You have to admire the versatility of Simon's composition - it's been performed as a pop song by The Cyrkle, as punk rock by The Diodes, as folk rock by The Seekers, and as ska by Streetlight Manifesto, and they all work.

Lynn R Hirst

If I recall properly, they chose to do a punk cover because of Paul Simon's dislike for punk, like a slap in face

The Wild Bear

I remember when this came out.. It really has been 11 years hasn't it?
