The king revealed that he has no beliefs, despite his previous status as a leader. He had to distance himself from everyone he knew. He kept secrets that no one else would ever know, so he felt it was time to move on and let them go.

And the priest said: I believe I'm a true believer now, I was a sinner, but I came to see the light. The?bomb? and me did not agree, but I must confess of jealousy.
The priest acknowledged his past transgressions, but now felt that he truly believed in something. The other person mentioned in this line (possibly a bum or thief) didn't share the same perspective or beliefs as the priest, but this difference made the priest jealous.
