At one point Larsen has no fixed address, no job, few possessions and little money - just a lot of generous friends who seem to let him sleep on their floor or couch, or in their spare room as he ventures onward. He appeared to be on a journey of sorts, perhaps searching for something greater than can be found in one’s own backyard. He spent time exploring & wandering all over the world. Through Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, road tripping with friends, playing unexpected shows in unexpected places, staying in the homes of old and new friends all along the way.
Swerve

And you place it
In yours
As we're walking
For hours
In the rain
We've been forgotten
In winter
As we search
For a reason
To be one
Why do things change so fast
You
You took my heart
Back to the start
So we could face one another
We
Knew what we deserved
But somehow we swerved
And we missed each other
And we missed each other
How many question must there be
Without answers
Till we
Start wondering what we really have
We see perfection
But in truth
In the danger
What if this was our final melody
Why do change at all
You
You took my heart
Back to the start
So we could face one another
We
Knew what we deserved
But somehow we swerved
And we missed each other
And we missed each other
If I
Could go back in time
I'd rewrite those lines
And we'd be together
But no
This story's been panned
We must wait till the end
Can we read it together
Can we read it together
In Stu Larsen's song Swerve, the singer describes being lost and forgotten, searching for a reason to be one. The rain serves as a metaphor for the sadness and confusion experienced by the singer. They long for a time when things were simpler and they were able to face one another, but these moments have passed. The singer seems to be grappling with the idea of change and what it means for their relationship with the person they are addressing. They wonder how many unanswered questions there must be before they start to truly reflect on the situation they are in, and how they might have missed one another due to a swerve in their paths. The singer expresses regret at not being able to rewrite the story, but still holds out hope for reading it together.
This song seems reminiscent of a past love or relationship that didn't have the chance to fully develop. The singer longs for another chance to be close to someone and seems to be reflecting on why things didn't work out. The metaphorical use of the rain as sadness and confusion is powerful and adds depth to the lyrics. The chorus of the song repeats the idea of missing one another, emphasizing the sense of longing felt by the singer.
