I just want to say, as a composer and a performer, Muse is incredible. I took up the lute this year. I had no expectations whatsoever that Muse would be able to handle Lute Tablature. In fact, they've got all the bases covered. It's incredible. Well done.

I've been a MuseScore user from its beginning and I have to say t's very exciting seeing how this project has evolved and improved through time. This new version has a very polished interface and very useful improvements for both the beginner and the seasoned engraver/arranger. A game changer in the digital music edition software indeed.

Given that there are a lot of high quality recordings being used in muse-sounds,
are there any plans on releasing those as a vst based orchestral plugin?

I know it deviates from Musescore development and probably doesn't benefit it,
but it would be mindblowing to be able to utilize the same full orchestra in other vst based software for free.
So far any free orchestral sound libraries I've come across are either very limited or not of decent quality.
Since those sounds are part of Musescore and free to begin with, this would be amazing for new orchestral composers who prefer to use daws instead of notation software.

Honestly, if you need a good orchestral pack, bbc symphony is pretty good. Students and people who do the form get the sample for free and I've used the free version on tons of stuff.

You talked about the existing music formats not being powerful enough to allow plugins like this to work... Whatever changes you had to make to the interface so it could sound like THIS, I hope you can get whatever commitee is responsible to standardize that into VST4 or something. You're leading the way for the future of music production right now.

As a beginner at writing sheet music in general, I can even hear the difference! I did notice as a saxophone player that the soprano and tenor don't go higher than F. While also and bari couldn't get over altissimo G. This will obviously change in the future for sure though.

I couldn't easily find the overall size of the whole library, and it would be great to see how much space each one occupies on the hard drive right away in the muse hub. That being said, what a great set of playback instruments, good job

I'm just a dumb engineer, occasionally play oboe, picc & flute, recorder, and harmonica. Don't use your app very often, but when I do, it does a great job for me. Exspecially when my wife brings her uke music and wants a key change. Now I've got her doing it for herself. Great app, and the price is right!

Hi. So I just downloaded the plugin and it sounds fantastic! There's just one little problem: the sound clips and lags when I use Muse Sounds. It may be because my computer can't process these sounds, and if that's the case, are you planning on optimizing the plug-in as updates progress?

One quick suggestion that might help: go to Properties > I/O > and raise the buffer size to 2048 or 4096. That often helps for lower spec machines.

I'm having the same problem with the choir sounds but I just switched them to the spitfire labs choir. The voices would all be written to start on the first beat and they would play at different times. No problems when I switched plug-ins though.

One thing that I would add to help beef this up has to do with the sound font configuration: Let's say for some odd reason, I don't like Muse Sounds and I want to go back to MS Basic, I would like the option to change the sound fonts for all instruments at once, instead of having to manually to change the sound fonts for each instrument.

The first time I tried this, I was a bit bummed that the marching percussion option wasn't available. But the rest works just fine.

All MuseScore 4 needs to do now is fix the YouTube playback bugs if there are bugs. For instance, I had a score rendition of the theme tune to "Jeopardy!", but instead of showing all the instruments, it zoomed in on some and cut off the others, so I defaulted back to 3.6.2. for the video. Was this a mistake I made, or are there bugs in the system?

When you install MuseScore, it invites you to install these extra sounds, and shows a link to this video. Is it just me, or does it seem like it'd be much more effective if this started with a brief example (e.g. under the opening narration) of how good Muse Sounds sounded? If you're encouraging people to download and install gigs of extra software, you may as well start by giving them an idea how good it is.

I gave it a short try and the sound are definitely perfectible. There seems to be reverb effects applied by default, whioch is not what I want. The harpsichord plays arpeggios, which are unfortunately not in the score, probably because the samples are not correctly aligned. Yet you don't look at the teeth of a given horse says a French proverb.

I'm using MuseScore AppImage for Linux (on Linux Mint 21) and installed MuseHub deb package . Home, Sounds, and Effects button don't appear on Muse Hub and the downloaded Muse Sounds aren't automatically assigned. MuseScore 4 is great!

I installed Musescore last night and then downloaded musesounds. All of the sounds completed, except for strings which seemed to get stuck and did not complete. All the same, the other sounds that were completed did NOT appear as the default sounds in the mixer. It was still reading MS Basic. And there was no way to abort the string download that seemed to go wrong. I have plenty of power and storage on my computer to run this. 16GB 1 Terabyte. Every time I open the Musehub the strings were still not finished. Do I need to restart my computer and see if the new musesounds default in the mixer? I'm kind of bummed to be having this kind of trouble at the outset where the first and most basic part of setting up has gone wrong.

I had already installed the muse sound in the beta version. Now, after the first upgrade on the official release day, I cant' see percussions sounds in the mixer anymore and when I start the hub the percussions are there regularly. If i try to upgrade it, the hub starts an endless downloading. It seems also impossibile to unistall it and try again. How can i solve the problem? Thank!

I don't normally like 'me too' postings.... but the point has only been mentioned a couple of times... and is a critical 'System Requirement' for potential users of the application...

Whether in the handbook, on the web site or in the 'Muse Hub' applet, there should be some mention made of the size of each of the libraries.

Additionally, it would be helpful to have a 'search list' feature within MuseScore/Muse Hub, so the libraries can be placed in multiple directories across multiple spindles; this would use the OS's paging/caching features to ensure frequently accessed libraries are kept loaded.. but the user can optimize the library locations according to available disk space and frequency of use.

How "Free" is it?
I just read the EULA in MuseHub, it mentions it's still "owned" by MuseHub, so it's definitely not GPL or MIT that kind of "Free", it's still proprietary stuff.
In the MuseHub, it mentions "free to use in your composition", the MuseSounds are "available exclusively in Muse Hub".
What exactly does that mean? Where's the line drawn?
I certainly cannot resell it, but what about selling musics rendered with MuseScore 4 and MuseSound?
What about game BGM? What about selling rendered composition as game assets?
Is MuseSound something not free outside using in MuseScore? Or is it simply preventing being downloaded outside MuseHub?
I'm completely fine with MuseHub being proprietary or future sounds start charging, I just want a clear and cut TOS.

When you choose a different folder to install the libraries, Musescore can't find them. Can't seem to tell it to look in a specific folder. So apparently, Musescore doesn't yet support libraries from external paths, while the hub gives you the option to change the install folder for libraries. facepalm
