Born in Corona, Queens, and raised on Groshon Ave in Yonkers, NY, Styles began rapping with Jadakiss and Sheek in 1994, as they all grew up in the same Yonkers, New York neighborhood. They eventually signed to Bad Boy Records, formed the rap group called "THE LOX" which stands for "Living Off Xperience", and recorded songs with Notorious B.I.G., Sean Combs and Darren Blackburn. In 1998, The Lox released Money, Power & Respect w/ the hit song "Money, Power, Respect" feat. fellow Bad Boy, "Lil Kim" and Ruff Ryder Earl "DMX" Simmons. Soon thereafter, Styles P led the Lox on the now infamous quest to leave Bad Boy Records. When they were finally released, the Lox signed to Interscope. Shortly thereafter, a new Lox album and Jadakiss' solo album Kiss Tha Game Goodbye were released.
Styles released A Gangster and a Gentleman in 2002, as his debut solo album. The album contained the song "The Life", featuring Pharoahe Monch which was originally recorded for Rawkus Records' Soundbombing 3 compilation album. The follow up hit was the song dedicated to marijuana use, "Good Times (I Get High)", one of the most played songs of 2002.
In 2003, Styles P. and Jadakiss appeared on the "Oz Soundtrack" with one of the harder edged songs "Some Niggas" about prison life. On a mixed album with several songs about the lifestyle behind bars, "Some Niggas" was one of the fiercest and most remembered songs on the street from that album.
In 2004, Styles P. released the mixtape Ghost Stories in limited distribution form (NY only) -- the mixtape spread to other cities and onto the internet in the next year. He was featured on the hit song "Locked Up", by R&B artist Akon.
In 2005, Styles P. received local market airplay for his and Jadakiss' remix of Mariah Carey's mega-hit "We Belong Together", and on Miri Ben-Ari's album, The Hip-Hop Violinist; he features on the track "We Gonna Win". He released two stand-alone mixtapes in complete form: Ghost in the Shell in the spring of 2005 and Ghost in the Machine in the Fall.
Styles P. has been featured on many rappers' albums including Ghostface Killah, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Akon's albums. Styles is rumoured to appear on DMX's new album Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later. He will also appear on the title track to The Roots' latest album, Rising Down.

I get high (I get high)
I get high (I get high)
I get high (I get high)
I get high on your memory
High on your memory
High on your memory
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (all the time)
High
Everyday I need an ounce and a half
SP, the only flow-er that you know with a bounce and a half
Listen kid, I need a mountain of cash
So I can roll up, hop in the whip, and like bounce to the Ave
I get high 'cause I'm in the hood, the guns is around
And take a blunt just to ease the pain that humble me now
And I'd rather roll something up
'Cause if I'm sober dog, I just might flip, grab my guns and hold something up
I get high as a kite, I'm in the zone, all alone, mothafucker case I'm dyin' tonight
So I roll 'em up, back to back, fat as I could
You got beef with Styles P, I come and splatter the hood
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (every night)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
(High on your memory, high on your memory) (all the time)
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (every night)
I get high, high, high, high (all the time)
I get high, high, high, high
High
Ayo, I smoke like a chimney
Matter fact I, smoke like a gun when a killa see his enemy
I smoke like Bob Marley did
After that, then I smoke like the hippies did, back in the seventies
Spit with the finishing touch, get this that
I'ma finish you before I finish the Dutch
I get high like the birds and the planes
I get high when bullets hit faces after words exchange
I get a rush off the blood on the walls
You understand, like the M5 pedal when it's touchin' the floor
I get high 'cause fuck it, what's better to do?
And I'ma never give a fuck, 'cause I'm better than you
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (every night)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
(High on your memory, high on your memory) (all the time)
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (every night)
I get high, high, high, high (all the time)
I get high, high, high, high
High
I'ma smoke 'til my lungs collapse
I'm from a era where niggas cause terror over guns and crack
Where a dollar bill is powerful
I smoke weed 'cause time seem precious and I know what an hour do
High for a livin', gots to ride for a livin'
With my real gangsta niggas that'll die for a livin'
Shit, I get as high as I could
'Cause if you see things, like I see things, I'ma die in the hood
Mothafucka understand it's full service for you
I don't smoke the weed if it ain't purple or blue
And you can name any rapper if you want, he can die
This is SP dumpin' in you, bitch, I get high
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (every night)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
(High on your memory, high on your memory) (all the time)
I get high, high, high, high (everyday)
I get high, high, high, high (I am the Ghost)
I get high, high, high, high (flow with me)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
(High on your memory, high on your memory)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
I get high, high, high, high (I get high on your memory)
(High on your memory, high on your memory)
I get high, high, high, high
I get high, high, high, high
High
In his song Good Times, Styles P repeatedly sings about getting high. As the lyrics progress, he starts to share why he smokes so much weed. He mentions how he's in a tough area and how the guns around him are a constant reminder of that fact. He also alludes to the pain he feels and how smoking is the only way to alleviate it. Additionally, he raps about how he gets high because he sees things differently from other people and how he is not afraid to die in the hood.
One could interpret the song's lyrics as a commentary on the struggles Styles P has faced in his life. He's seeking to escape the harsh realities of his environment & the memories of painful experiences that he can't shake off. Styles P's love for weed is a coping mechanism, a way to intentionally get lost in his own head and the world of sensory pleasure the drug provides. This sentiment is further hinted at by the line "I get high on your memory." This line could be interpreted in different ways, but what stands out is the fact that the subject for the high is a memory. It suggests that smoking weed is an emotional crutch for the rapper, a way to relive or escape from reality, albeit temporarily.

Yup, that's one thing that's amazing about music.
I feel the same way it really is like a time machine, I'm instantly back to being 15 years old.
I swear sometimes it's so vivid. Quick question, do you get goosebumps often when listening to music?
