Sublime with Rome performed their first gig together in February 2009 near Gaugh's home in Nevada, followed by an appearance at Cypress Hill's Smokeout Festival in San Bernadino that October. On April 20, 2010, the band embarked on their first-ever US tour with dates going into that fall. After positive reaction on the road, Sublime with Rome released a debut album on Fueled By Ramen records in July 2011.
In December 2011, Bud Gaugh revealed in an interview that he would be leaving Sublime With Rome and KROQ's Accoustic Christmas would be his last show. He saying he wanted to go home and spend more time with his family. He later went on to say "It was really good for the first few months, after that, it just felt wrong. Not playing the songs but playing them with the name Sublime, without Brad." When asked if he saw the band reuniting in the future Gaugh replied "No, I am done with SWR. I would be into playing music with Eric Wilson, however." He was replaced by Josh Freese.

I was avoiding the new iteration of sublime as I figured can't be like it used to be .... But I heard this song while I was driving , found out out its sublime with Rome realized I better give it a try afterall. Glad I did , Rome has a great voice and I like the new sound! So happy sublime lives again !

If you are complaining or disapprove of the new addition to what had started a whole new level of freedom and expression of self you are not listening close enough to the message. I have been able to be inspired to make major life changes and have learned to except myself most importantly for who I am with the message in the music I don't care if the little mermaid was singing. I do love the fact though that Rome is carrying on with the amazing creation that changed the world and I want to say thank you for your gift

the people who are hating because this isn't sublime need to calm down. this is not the same band! its a band that's trying to keep the vibe and love that sublime started. the death of Bradly was a tragedy but I'm so grateful that rome took on the ridiculous responsibility of following in his footsteps! its impossible to fill his shoes and he knows that yet he continuous to preserve his legacy knowing he will never be fully accepted. that takes balls. personally I love sublime with rome its got amazing vibes and Its some of my favorite shit to smoke and surf too. rome is a different man with different style and sublime with rome is a different band with different style but that is no reason to hate. I know Bradly would never do that. what would Bradly do? #wwbd
