Submethod Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let it go and they'll let you in
Let it go, it was the garden that gave us leisure
Let it go, they say a peace of mind is quickly coming
Let it go and you'll pass away, pass away

Tears to warm a freezing heart
Pity finds itself imbedded in a lie
Guilty pleasure makes its mark
I've learned to disappoint without even trying

Lost the mission, it's a start
Reaching out is such a difficult endeavor
Searching splinters in the dark
Countless wasted moments none could ever measure

What else is there to cover?
Walk the path, and again they'll stone you down
Torch it and rediscover
Chalk one up to the load that we are bound
Sanctioned my desire
Standing tall over all conquered ground
Actions speaking louder than any weakness in the chain
That's found

Our reflections tell no lies
Hatred starts when we see something in ourselves

Nothing here to set things right
Just a shadow of what we cannot expel

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Link by Submethod talk about the difficulty of letting go of things that weigh us down, and the consequences of holding onto them. The opening lines "Let it go and they'll let you in / Let it go, it was the garden that gave us leisure / Let it go, they say a peace of mind is quickly coming / Let it go and you'll pass away, pass away" encourage the listener to let go and move on in order to find peace and happiness. The repetition of "let it go" emphasizes the importance of this idea, while the final line "pass away" reminds us that nothing lasts forever, and holding onto negativity only brings us closer to our own mortality.

The middle section of the song describes the difficulty of reaching out and trying to connect with others. The lines "Lost the mission, it's a start / Reaching out is such a difficult endeavor / Searching splinters in the dark / Countless wasted moments none could ever measure" recognize the effort it takes to connect with others, but also acknowledge the disappointment that often comes with failure. The final section of the song takes a more introspective turn, with lines like "Our reflections tell no lies / Hatred starts when we see something in ourselves / Nothing here to set things right / Just a shadow of what we cannot expel" suggesting that the biggest obstacles to finding happiness and peace come from within ourselves.

Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this album. I used to go to their shows when I was in my teens and those were by far some of the best memories I had from that strange time period. Thanks again. I still wear my shirt with the album art on it all the time. I barely have any of my belongings from back then, but I will be buried with my Submethod Essay shirt.

Geof Kirby

Has anyone found a copy of this somewhere? I've been searching for 5 years after an old friend stole mine, but alas...no dice :(

Rickamus Prime

Geof Kirby I don't, but if you go to the website 'clipconverter.cc' you can copy each link from each video, and download them as MP3's and burn a CD. Hope this helps!

Brian Joynt

It’s on eBay from time to time. Not cheap, either.
