Leaving crowds inspired and often open-mouthed in their wake, this is not live dubstep to be taken lightly. The members have all cut their teeth on live dub, funk, reggae, jazz and even grime bands previously, so are no strangers to complex rhythm or rootical bass. Having been formed in early 2009 as an experimental live project, the band have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts this year.
Expect to hear blissful tones and weighty sub-bass, interwoven with tight rhythmic intensity from this incredibly talented outfit.

(2) The seven-piece electronic/jazz ensemble Submotion Orchestra combined an eclectic mix of bass, soul, ambient electronica, jazz, and dub, which was complemented by the sultry vocals of singer Ruby Wood. The project began at the request of York Arts Council, when they asked founding members Tommy Evans (Gentleman's Dub Club) and Dom "Ruckspin" Howard (Author) to compose a classical/dub crossover piece to be performed at York Minster in 2009. After the success of that particular show, Evans and Howard returned to their hometown of Leeds, U.K., with a new musical vision and enough contacts to assemble the right musicians for the job.
Submotion Orchestra were revered for their energetic live shows, first on a local level at their weekly residency at Leeds bar Hukaz. They soon hit the U.K. festival trail, where their music and the feel-good atmosphere they promoted made them a firm festival favorite. By 2011 they had released their debut album, Finest Hour, via Ranking Records, gaining the support of BBC Radio 6 DJ Gilles Peterson, who would continue to endorse their music for many years to come. The second album, Fragments, was released only a year later. After its release, Ninja Tune offshoot label Counter Records approached the band about releasing future material, leading to third album Alium (2014) and fourth album Colour Theory (2016). ~ Liam Martin
Perfection
Submotion Orchestra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Flawlessly wrong
Un-spoilt blemishes
Perfect to me
A thousand pieces in a jigsaw of beautiful mistakes
Itβs the perfection of your imperfection
An un-broken breakage
The re-arrangement of
Perfect, Iβve seen
The debris of beauty flickers
In the sadness of a smile
Itβs the perfection of your imperfection
The lyrics of "Perfection" by Submotion Orchestra seem to convey the idea of finding beauty in imperfections. The first verse describes "perfection" as something that is "flawlessly wrong" and "un-spoilt blemishes." This suggests that what some might consider to be flaws or imperfections are actually what give things beauty and character. The second verse expands on this idea with the metaphor of a jigsaw puzzle made up of "beautiful mistakes." The singer sees these mistakes as perfect in their imperfection, suggesting that the flaws and quirks of a person or thing are what make them unique and special.
The chorus repeats the phrase "it's the perfection of your imperfection", further highlighting the theme of finding beauty in flaws. The second half of the chorus uses a paradoxical phrase, "an un-broken breakage", which seems to suggest that even when something is broken or imperfect, it can still be whole and complete in its own way. The final lines of the song tie everything together with a description of "the debris of beauty" that can be found even in sadness, seem to suggest that beauty can be found in unexpected places or even in pain and hardship.
Overall, the lyrics of "Perfection" encourage us to embrace our imperfections and see the beauty and uniqueness in them. Instead of striving for an impossible ideal of perfection, the song suggests that true perfection can be found in the flaws and quirks that make us who we are.

Within a world amassed in corruption, materialism, death, and sin, we find beauty in another man's work. A man that not only produces these beautiful songs for us, but for himself as well, so we can all find the peace we so desperately search for. For four minutes, all problems go away. Worries, cares, stress... Drift away with the waves of her voice, carrying us out into sea on a voyage. When we reach land again, we set ourselves on another by means of another song. Everything "fun" we do is to get away from the stress of life. Drugs, sports, art... They all take us into their own little world, filled with purity. Does anyone ever stop to think why doing LSD is called 'tripping'? You are taking a trip, and while on that trip, you are on vacation. Away from the problems, the evil of real life.
Good day everyone,
Happy Living
