The original, directed by Kevin Abstract, was one of the very first big budget music videos the group got to do after signing with RCA in 2018. Ditching the usual at home DIY direction Kevin has taken the group previously.
SUGAR has disturbing visuals of an alien killing a man, surreal, as well as satanic imagery with scenes depicting member Matt Champion rapping his verse while ingulfed in flames, while the Devil dances behind him. The eerie themes refer to selling the Band Members' souls to the devil.
After the original video got tons of criticisms from fans the group released a second video with a much happier tone, that ended up getting 25 million more views than the original on YouTube.
